Studio Scale Defiant

Hi. I'm trying to hunt down the parts for my Defiant it'll be 37" long, same as the studio model, I'm not sure of the scale because there's no official size I can find. I found most of them on studioscale.com but there's a few I can't identify. Any help anyone has would be great.

Here's one.

Thanks.

If you can't get it, you can always scratchbuild it with tubing? It dose look like one of those Tamyia/Dragon engine addon parts.

Actually, it looks like some sort of recupirator (recoil) assembly from some type of tank gun or other artillery piece. Given the other Tamiya parts present, that might be a good place to start.

That's what I was told too, that it's from an artillery gun but I can't locate it. It would be easy to scratchbuild it, but I would like to have the original piece for authenticity if possible.

Hey, I may be able to help.
With my interest in World War1 and 2 fighters, I know for sure that the center tube and the rectangular part that follows behind it with the little details, although altered a bit by filling in the vents and adding or taking some detail away from the chamber hilt..is 1/2 of a German Spandau machine gun, that was mounted onto the Fokker Dr.1 triplane, and a few other German aircraft of the period. I have quite a few of these kits laying around so I'm familiar with it.
Go find the right scale and you're in business. B)

I've got a Revell Fokker DR.1 in 1:28 on my table, right now.

It doesn't look like the same part to me, at least not representative of Revell's spandaus. I would guess that the model makers wouldn't spend a lot of time modding a kit-bashed part of this size. I think they'd pick one that works out of the box.

That said, I have no idea what it is...

I'm sorry, but after examining all of my various Spandaus, you're right and I really tried to help.
But, back to figuring it out again. :D

There is a part out of that kit on there though. Looks like I might be scratching it for that one piece. Thanks for trying.

Someone on Starshipmodeler identified the part, it's from a Sherman tank breech. Thanks for the suggestions though I appreciate it.
