You are welcome Fraley. Nacelles almost done. Pictures and video soon.

And for those of you just now checking in go back a few pages it helps. ;)

Grid lines grid lines. No stinking grid lines. I have yet to see a frame that shows them. Enough said.

Long day every part is on a painted. all decals are on except the little numbers. There's a bit of weathering to do. The paint the copper ring at the base of the shroud. But all little stuff.

Tomorrow I'll be installing the Bussard collector lights and motorized cages. Won't that be cool. I'll also glue the nacelles to the pylons and loose the wood supports that are stressing you guys out. Over a week now I had a few pounds sitting on the test pylon and it's still straight. ;)

The next video is 40 minutes long! Yikes. Three days worth of work. I'm going to let it upload while I sleep tonight and post it in the morning but some of you subscribe to my channel and will have it when they wake up.

I should be finished tomorrow and a last go around and finish the base Sunday.

Here's some crappy pictures for now.

Steve

"The Enterprise is a beautiful lady and we love here!"

OMG that's awesome! I don't get this giddy when I finish my own projects :lol

I think that when the nacelles are lit and that video is posted I will be a bit weepy eyed...
I remember watching Trials n Tribulations and that emotional rush I felt when the Defiants viewscreen cleared and there was the Enterprise. That ship generates a resonance with me that none of the other ships have.

You know Steve... after what was done to the original during the last "restoration"... seeing this... this, for me, is the real Enterprise... the Enterprise I saw on screen as a boy... thank you for bringing her back to me...

This looks beautiful Steve. Just a heads up - Of course it's your model and you can do what you want - FYI That ring on the base of the deflector housing was never copper. That's lighting, shadow, reflection off the dish, and '60's photograghy causing a hugh in that area. It was added mistakenly during the restoration, but it was never there on the physicle model during production of the series.

I'm sure folks here will have TONs of referance to support this, right up to the photos of the ship being uncrated for the first time at the Smithsonian.

Thought I'ld save you some paint. ;-)

Respectfully,

Tracy

Steve

Since the show aired, there have been a lot of replicas. You've got the real deal sitting there. Stunning.

Ted.

Tracy I have since checked and you are right. thanks for that.
And thanks to all you guys for the kind things you said about the model.

For some reason I'm having trouble getting my 40 minute video to render. You know computers they just suck at times. This is clearly the machine I'm using out of the 3 I have.

Not wanting to convert files and edit in Premiere and back to H 264 again I'm breaking it into two parts and it will not be loaded until sometime tomorrow.

That's the one draw back to Premiere. It will out put to H 264 but not import. Nuts since a lot of cameras today use the format. Figures.

Oh my!!!!!

I think the color scheme you used has gotten the subtlety of the model just right. No disrespect meant to Greg Jein, but I feel when he did the DS9 Trials and Tribbilations model, the gray patches on the bottom of the warp nacelles and center pylon were just a tick too dark.

Once those nacelle motors are in and powered up, this is going to look even MORE awsome than it already does.

Wow what a journey....it is great to see her painted, decal and 98% done...she looks like she is space worthy to me. (those lighted up Bussard collectors will really pop it over the top)
Thanks for taking us along the way with you Steve. You did an amazing job and the ship looks like what we saw and loved on screen.

Steve, What a fantastic job you have done. I really like the impulse engines they give her a nice fresh look. I think your phoneline will be busy for the next few years with calls for one of these.

There's nothing more to add to the heaps of praise.

I had a thought that might appease the naysayers

what if you made your braces out of clear acrylic? that might help minimize their impact.

I completetly understand their purpose and your choice to use them, BTW

You've raised the bar for all of us to shoot for. I love it!

What other darker colors did you end up going with? I want to make sure I have them.

I second what everyone has said; this is fabulous and it is THE Enterprise. The ship I have watched and admired for most of my long life. You really nailed it! When I look at your pictures I see this:

Thanks everyone for the comments and praise. It's greatly appreciated but lets finish her today.
