Steve
Thanks you for all your hard work and dedication to perfection.
Take all the time you feel necessary in the building of my BIG E.
I’m in no hurry.
In building mine I’ll be following your videos as
Close as possible.
I have already ordered the motors. Bought
wood and metal parts. I’m sure everything I need will be covered
in the CD Included with the kit.
I have also been trying to work out some
Kind swivel base.
(Any ideas out there guys?)
In fact I have been enjoying going through your videos..
I could not find where you mention the BIG E total dimensions?
Steve slow down your pace is killing me…LOL
Thanks again Steve.

Steve - I can only echo what the rest of these guys say - your build and this thread have been like crack!

Can you PM me? I can't afford the whole kit, or a new wife, nor would I have the space - But I'd like to know if I could get just the Bridge & B-C Deck section with perhaps a reject upper saucer section big enough to just build that part - I've got a hankering to build a bridge to fit in there.

^
I already PM'ed Steve about getting just the Bridge & B/C deck for now, lol. I thought it would be cool to light it and have it sitting on the desk . . . . at least until I can afford a kit!! :)

Great minds think alike!

Technically this should be in the studio scale section as it's the same size as Greg Gein's 9 day wonder for DS9 making it studio scale.

Steve

I'm talking about total dimensions/size. Not scale.
I know your far from done Steve.
But any Idea on weight as well?
I'm looking into a very large desplay case..
Or wall mount...
Or_____...

Thanks

Steve,
At 66" that makes your model about 1/172 scale, assuming ship is 947 feet long.
Some N scale figures, properly painted would look cool on the hangar deck, wouldn't you say?

;)

They'd look cool in a frozen, dessicated sort of way if you're suggesting having them visible thru open hangar bay doors.
I don't think the Kirk era 1701 had force fields in the hangar bay so any crewmen there when the doors opened would be exposed to the vacuum of space.
Very cool indeed LOL.
Just my two cents for what it's worth. Carry on...

I’m going put as much as I can into my BIG E.
Red and Blue Lasers and a bridge..
Shuttle bay and______...
Anyone have any good ideas..
I open for any help I can get.

You're scratching a shuttle bay? I'm willing to help there.

What lasers did you have in mind and where will they emit from?

I plan on having a microcontroller control my lights internally with a Bluetooth module hooked up so I can control it remotely like a super geek. Lol.

Yes to everything you said.
Please help with all that.
I'm not new to building props and models with
Lights.
Just new to everything you said.
Lasers for faser and torpedoes.
I would love to try all that remote
Cool stuff.
Thank you.:love

Little update. I spent the day getting more resin and cloth and laid up Kahn's hull. Al of it. Long day just finished.

So I have all the parts now for two kits. Tomorrow clean up. If I find anything bad I'll fix it and primer it before I send it out.

I wish I would have the time to do what you guys are planning however I'm just going to make it studio scale and leave the hanger accessible. Maybe one day I'll put the deck in too. ;)

In the last 3 days I've poured over 100 parts and cast up 8 epoxy glass hull sections. I feel dirty as a pig in a mud hole but I got it all done. I'm hoping to be back at my build this weekend.

I may or may not do a shuttle bay. You have to be careful how high you raise the bar when you're building or you'll never finish. I already have the design of how I'll do the electronics though. Scratching a shuttle bay might get overly complicated and I'd like to actually finish this build!

Your hard work is appreciated, Steve. I really can't wait to get started on this! I'm hoping to follow along with your buildup.

^^remember, you have a lot of internal structuring from the pylons going on where the back wall of the shuttle bay would be.

I'm not saying a "in scale" shuttle wouldn't be sweeter than sunshine, but you need to bow to the realities of the model as it exists.

Steve

Thanks again for all your hard work.I look forward to seeing the end product..
Any Pictures of mine??

To Everyone:
Thanks for all the input.I have not put anything in stone at this time.
I'll look over the BIG E and go from there..During my build she will
let me know how far I can go..
I would like to see any ideas you all have.
Picture,Videos and Input. I know this is the best place for that..
So start posting anything you got...
Or just IM me..I dont wont to hijack thisa threed..

Thanks all.
