Steve,

Are you planning to use 'warm' white LEDs for the interior lighting to reproduce the look of the incandescent lighting of the original studio model?

This is one of the finest builds I have ever seen. You are a true MASTER!

Wow....... Doesn't even begin to cover how epic this is... I can't wait to get mine.... I'll be dreaming of it for some time and probably thinking of every way I can to present it.

Ray that's most kind of you and the rest of you too. Really.

And you make me laugh which always helps! ;)

Rendering the video now. Here's some pictures of stuff.

I start really building tomorrow. Video tells all and will upload tonight.

Thanks again to all of you!

Steve

No that's not a phaser hit but the fiber glass cloth and epoxy that holds the substructure very securely to the plywood.. That wasn't shown in the last video but as soon as I remove the engineer hull I will show it up close for those of you building this model.

Great.... Take a weekend off to get stuff done around the house and I miss all the good stuff!!! Better start catching up. Great stuff so far.

I've sorta been avoiding the awesomeness of this thread becasue I have no room for such an awesome model! Having broken down and come back to it I now want to buy a larger home... Damn you Steve Neill! :D

All BS aside - this is one of the most impressive things I've seen in model building...

Thanks for making the documentary!

steve,
on the flat sanding, was that one big sheet of paper or several smaller ones and were they self advesive or did you spray mount them to the table?

inquiring minds need to know

It's been some time since I've posted a reply here, but I've popped in every so often to check things when I have the chance.

Amazing to think it's over. The master build and molding, that is, lol.

Doesn't seem like that much time's passed since you got started on this project, but as unreal as it seems you have been at this for a while.

It's come a long way, and I feel privileged to have been a part of it in a way, following along as you worked away at it.

Truly remarkable craftsmanship there, Steve. I'm left in utter awe.

And that WiP Enterprise, although just taped together and not painted or anything, has got to be one of the THE sexiest things I've ever seen :D

Can't wait to see you finish up that one, buddy!

I dont have any drug addictions, but your videos make me feel like I do.
Every free moment I have Im thinking about them.
What will the next one Be about?
What will you show use?
What will you do Next?
Waiting for my next fix....
Tick Tock Tick Tock.......
This is a educational time capsule of you and your BIG E.

Thank you again Steve for keeping the blood flowing...

LOL. This is how I feel too! It is an addiction. I'm counting down the days until I have my kit and if I don't check my email regularly I go through withdrawal.

Look what you've done to us Steve. :)

This thing is looking quite gorgeous. Just makes me want to add another floor to your house put a full bridge above your garage and a theater right next to it with a recording studio right next to that and give you the good ole TOS Connie corridors up there.

I didn't do it. Gene Roddenberry did! ;)

The next video is short. The day was spent picking up supplies needed to complete the model and kits. All this week will be parts making and later on hull making. Customers come first. Weekends I'll build my model.

I got to try out this new self gassing clear epoxy tonight. Not one bubble! Amazing stuff. It's designed for making clear parts, Only draw back is the 24 hour cure but I don't care as long as I get the proper part.

I have to make some small molds tomorrow for the teardrop shaped small NAV lights and the under saucer side 3/4 ball NAV lights.

I have a bit of preening to do to John's hull parts and so on. So it will be a busy week with short videos until this weekend when I start doing windows and primer-paint the hull parts. I may start a bit of wiring too.

But making kits will slow me up a bit on the build but that's OK.

Steve

Just a little something to add to the fire that is a beautiful fire. Hopefully this will not be painting a mustache on the Mona Lesa.

TOS Constitution kicks ass - YouTube

Enjoy.

As for your model. Steve you are going after some serious Star Ratings from me. As what you seen in the Werewolves in London thread you will see my rating system.

Keep on Trucking with this. You are feeding my inner geek. Makes me wish that I had enough money to pay you to build it all the way from start to Finish with everything done and for the S&H details plus a handsome tip. But I lack the money to do such.

Further note. I am thinking it is a bittersweet fact that you are no longer working for Hollywood's prop department. Bitter because you are not working on some original pieces of prop history. And Sweet because you now have time for your own projects plus time with your dearly beloved wife.

All the best!
Alex.

Look what you've done to us Steve. :)

I know what you mean about getting the blood pumping when looking at it, fellas.

I mean, I grew up in the time of TNG; that was the first Star Trek I was exposed to.

And yet, despite that the grand ol' lady, the original 1701 is just somehow so mesmerizing for some reason.

Yeah, the Ent-D is the ship I grew up with, and she was a fine ship, but she doesn't hold a candle to the original.

When you see her, there's something about her that makes you catch your breath as you gaze at her.

She really gets a hold of you, and never lets go.

Whoa... that didn't sound too weird, did it? :p lol

Steve,

Forgive me asking but those nacelles look a little low to me. Is it just the way you have them propped up or is it just my old eyeballs betraying me.
