Strider/Aragorn boots?

Aren't good quality and cheap contradictory terms? If I were you, I'd check out some of the costume dealers on ebay. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Try looking for pirate boots... You may find something similar. Here's a shot of my pair, if it helps:

tall black boots, fold down the tops, tie them around the calf and the ankle several times with twine or thick string/thin rope (I still have to swap out the ties on mine for twine). You can add the stitching along the foot for added accuracy. Should be able to find something close... Good luck!

Douglas,
I remember seeing your Aragorn photos a while back. I even check them out from time to time. The BEST ARAGORN BAR NONE!!!! You just need a real UC Strider sword!

Thanks Tim! Is the UC sword worth the cost of the upgrade over the knockoff? The upgrade I'd really like to make is to swap out my duster for kropserkel's version, but that's damn expensive...

Did you see that someone is selling a good looking pair of boots in the junkyard? I saw the thread yesterday...

Anglachel, here's the thread where I posted my costume last Halloween (needs tons of weathering still): http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=15281

Douglas, like I said, you are the BEST Aragorn bar none!!!

The UC Strider sword is much better than the China/Pakistan version. The knockoffs look good until you see the UC versions, then you'll never want to go back. Does the copy sword you have even work on a belt? I put one on a belt before and the buckles on the scabbard just ripped off of the belt.

The boots in the junkyard are too small for me. I have a custom pair of Gondorian Boromir/Aragorn bracers, but I need the red bracer padding that goes under them. I can't find them anywhere.

Keep your ring. I have the same ring. It's better than the NC version because that one is coated with a metal over the silver. And if it wears off your up the creek. The solid silver ones are better, and I have the same exact one that you have. I love it. I'll send you my address for your duster :lol

Douglas, check out my LOTR bedroom http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2724232&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#2724232

Love the bedroom! Julie and I are actually going to start having themed halloween parties (the theme of our costumes and the house itself will be a surprise to everyone else, they won't have to adhere to the theme) and this year we're probably going to break out the LOTR costumes and dress up the house similarly! What else do you have planned for the room? Shards of Narsil would look great in there...

I wonder what the UC Strider sword goes for nowadays. I'll have to check eBay... I wish someone else would pick up that license!

I've got no issues at all with the knockoff ring; it looks very accurate. I do intend to paint the snake heads gold, however.

Post some pictures of this Aragorn costume as it comes together!
