Stormtrooper opinion needed.

This is my first post here so hello to everyone at the RPF. Over the past year I have become more and more amazed at the skill and craftmanship that you all have. Some of the work on here is truly fantastic. I have seen a stormtrooper costume that I would like to buy and was wondering if any of you trooper experts would mind me emailing the pictures of it to you so that I can get an opinion as to how good it looks. I can't post it on the forum because it's on ebay.
Any help would be great.
All the best.
Rob.

Thanks for the help Mark G and Mr no stripes. Sorry, I can't work out how to PM a picture. I'm rubbish with computers. I'll try and put just the picture up from the ad with photo bucket. By the way Mark G where are you in Sussex. I'm in Surrey.

go to the photobucket picture and it has a list of codes on the left hand side. copy the bottom one called IMG code and paste it directly into the text of your post.

you can also pull up the image that you want to paste into your text and right click on it and go to properties. copy the whole address and click on the insert image icon above your text editor that you're typing in (it's a button that looks like a little picture of a mountain range with a sun behind it) delete the http:// in the pop up window and paste the whole image address into the pop up window and click okay or whatever and it will paste the image into your post.

i'm not a stormtrooper expert, i'd listen to what mr. no stripes has to say, but i'd say it's best to stay away from ebay and contact the people who some of these guys think sells a better set of armor. ebay is too sketchy for me.

I know what you mean. I'm not a great fan of ebay for this sort of thing but there just seems to be so much choice when it comes to stormtrooper armour that it kind of makes your head spin. Do you know if Jedi robes armour is any good. I'm just looking for something in the U.K that is'nt in kit form and not a massive amount of money.

i personally have no knowledge of such things. i'm just a :wacko helmet maker.

Mate - that is a big no no, esp.ly for the cash. Theres a lot of customising of armor to fit your body anyways, and it isnt all that difficult. If I recal correctly, that kit isnt all that cheap anyways?

I would suggest signing up to the UK Garrison or Galactic Knights - both are UK based costuming groups for more help and info. They can help in sourcing as well as helping in assembly. Dont forget the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment; they are the official 501st stormtrooper forum.

yes. building a stormtrooper outfit isn't nearly as hard as something like a clonetrooper. some of the trimming and stuff is meant to be wonky because they were wonky in the movies, also you want it to fit you and not some mannequin that it was made for.
that's good advice from dog_biscuit

there are a TON of armor makers out there.

First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment

that is the place to go on how to info on sizing a suit. you can also see some of the other suits and makers out there and see how they look and what body types they fit.

oh, and NO flea bay for that stuff. you will get burned everytime and its probably re-casted anyway.

that pic looks pretty good to me. that def. 501st acceptable. but contact Robin over at the UK garrison.
