Hey guys,
I know you know alot more about neckseals than I do. I was wondering where I can get an accurate neck seal that is still comfortable. Comfort is always good.

Weren't the originals made w/ rubber?

I am no expert on what they were made of, or where to get them. But you may try here. www.whitearmor.net

This a 501st based forum that I have found very helpfull in the past. Just find the logo and click on there to enter.

The second one looks to be the best out of the 2.

The first one looks to be one of those hard ribbed, glossy ones... not very comfortable I've found.

If you want the best, get a TK409 one. Price is about $45 IIRC, but are worth it, and very accurate.

I've never seen a completely accurate neckseal yet, as the neck was part of a kind-of vest undergarment supposedly made of rubber. I wish someone would finally tackle this item.

There was at least 2 types of neck seals in ANH. The hero's wore a kind of sash with the neck seal part of it and looked to be make of satin or vinyl and the stunt troopers wore a rubber neck seal which I believe was part of a frog mans dive suit that was modified slightly.

I have a TK409 one and IMO it's the best compromise for wearability and accuracy...

Mine's gonna be purely for display so I'm not too concerned if it's comfortable or not.

I agree with GH....they look to have a somewhat rubbery sheen to them....it'd be great to get an uber-accurate neckseal out there. Not too hard to make one...just the material that's tough to nail down.

good to see you agian troopermaster, I remember you answering tons of Stormtrooper questions a while back.

do you know the actual size of the ribs that were used in ANH?

What is the "frog mans" dive suit?

Which neck seal do you prefer? rubber or vinyl?

Thanks

NOOOOO!!! NOT TRIK TOYS!!!!

sorry, I really don't like Trik Toys... nothing of his is accurate, and he overcharges for everything. I've bought two things from him, returned them both, and swore never to buy from him again... bad experience... that's all

It's nothing against you Optimus :)

By the way, do you have an Optimus Prime costume... because that would be awesome.

The first one is said to be a rubber material... is it not that accurate?

I picked up one of those just to check it out for myself, and it's actually quite comfortable. the material is fairly glossy, a bit more than necessary for accuracy, but I think it's better than being too flat because the ribs don't really show very well with that cloth type material. As far as being rubber, I can see the tubes underneath the material being rubber because it is fairly flexible. The material does make it look a lot like rubber, and really the only complaints I can see using it would be accuracy(there is a gab between the ribs where it's sewn), and breathability. From a distance though, I really don't think it looks half bad.

Hm, any info on the process of making these?

I don't need a "neckseal" persay, but I will be using the same application for another suit I have in the works. (If I can learn the best way to make them)

Yea, I'd have sworn the hero ones looked like satin... but everyone I've talked to, even Mollo recalls the rubber. I am really speaking of the hero's "vest", as those are the only ones (Han) that you can really see other parts like the ties at the hips and some of the front and rear panels...

Even back when I first saw ANH I thought it looked like rubber...

And I still do.

Alot of people think they are a cloth material with a sheen... dont see it.

Even on my HD copy... on my flat screen 19in monitor... still dont see it.
