Stormtrooper helmet replica (PICS)

Here is one of three helmets i'm working on at the moment. Its going to be a replica of the Brian R helmet (TE's first helmet). Its now ready to take apart again so i can paint the face and cap in a HDPE colour before assembling it again ready for spraying with house paint. I'm going to paint it to look like it might have looked in 1976 rather than making it look old.

I've also built a replica based on trimming and assembly the Dave M helmet (TE's second helmet) and i've also done a low brow ESB.

Thanks wackychimp for hosting,

Keith.

Hmmm, that's one bumpy helmet for sure, a ton better than the crappy helmets I'm practicing on.

I'm studying the best way to accurately paint an TESB helmet and only then I'll start working on a couple of better helmets.

Can't wait to see your low brow ESB (hoping one day it might end up in the junkyard :p :) )

Cheers.

Beutiful as always Keith.I look forward to your progress. :D

Cheers,
Ben

They won't be finished for some time yet. I don't have much spare time at the moment and i need to decide what paint i'm going to use for the HDPE colour, so the parts look like they were made from that colour when painted inside and out.

I would have liked to finish the other two as exact copies of specific originals, but so far there are no other original helmets found to use for reference that have the same soft rear traps and step in the cap/backs. I'm sure there were others that had a similar look, possibly the "look sir droids" helmet but there are no good reference pictures of any so far.

The one i'm building above should look quite accurate to the original Brian R helmet at least though, as its not had the face extended back or anything.

Keith.

That's a very nice helmet Keith, crap in all the right places. :p

(I wish the originals hadn't been quite so bumpy though.)

On your way to a great helmet, but shouldn't you not spray the helmet white? I thought the originals were all hand painted with a brush. Again, I could be wrong about this.
