Stormtrooper armour

Hey I was watching ANH again. remember the scene were they get out of the garbage, chewie is afraid, and han shoots stuff. Well there is armor lying on the ground and it appears that shoulder bells are connects... because they hang down. This leads me to believe they much be connected to something.

Does anyone have any thoughts about that?
Does anyone have a High res. picture of that scene?

So, so very flippin' sweet my friend. Stormtrooper armor is one of life's few things that make me regret having boobs. :(
I COULD be a girl Stormtrooper, but it's just not the same.

:lol
Ok I'll be good, why not just be a standard TK? I mean your going to make your armor to suit you, and there are femtroopers who dont wear the female armor. Be a stormtrooper. Or a sandtrooper, you get lots of neat equipment and a nifty shoulder pauldron. Theres a picture somewhere on this board with someones garrison and they have a sandtrooper thats like 7 feet tall and 300 pounds. He modded his armor and he looks just fine. Go for it. We will root for you.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but........ Weren't most of the Death Star troopers in ANH Women? I know the TIE pilots were. So, fuzzylover, putting on a Stormtrooper suit is actually very accurate. We have a lady TK (not femtrooper) here in Oz and she looks great and I have a spare FX suit that I would like to see my wife wear. She has ummmmm...... bodacious norgs? B) and chest plate fits her pretty well.

Cheers,

The tie pilots were women? Interesting...no matter how many books you read or dvds you watch, theres a billion things that are unknown to me about star wars. Ive been meaning to say, nice car by the way. Ever go to a drive thru in Pilot gear? I know that the speeder that Bail drives in EPIII is based on a tucker, Id love to make a speeder based on my trans am. Oh, and so this stays true to talking about stormtrooper armor, I got my humbrol paints and liquid mask at the hobby store, and although the number was right, it wasnt called admiral grey. The blue was right, but not the grey. This actually makes me think of a topic to post in off topic, so Im going over there now to ask.

does anyone have a response to this? :p

The shoulder bridge connected to the bells via an elastic strip on the outside of the bell, which went down to a popper on the bicep. It seems (to me at least) that the bicep then connected to the forearm via an elastic strip which went down the inside of the arm.

Not sure that all the TIE's were women. I thought the vast majority of the Stormtroopers were men.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I've heard the two Tie Pilots walking with Vader were females. But still haven't seen any photo evidence yet? All the Photos of Stormtroopers with their helmets off (from production shots) are of men. I'm not saying there weren't any female dressed as troopers but wouldn't be great to see some proof.

Whoops, sorry :$ , I should've said it was the 2 that Vader needed for " More black representation on the board" :lol were the one's I was told were women. Also, I was told that the line up of troopers in the hangar were supposed to have women in it too. I was told this many moons ago and for the life of me I can't remember who said it, so take it with a grain of salt. Oh and this isn't a case of "I know, but I can't tell you", it's a case of " Oh my god, I've got the memory of a Goldfish". :confused

peter mayhew dave prowse kenny baker and tony daniels have all been to adcon and i have spoken with them on this very subject in the numerous times ive been to dinner sight seeing and otherwise with them.

i can tell you that beyond a shadow of a doubt that there were female TKs because most of the men tall enought werent slender enough.

otherwise they would look like alot of the TKs we see at conventions... not so skinny... :lol :p

sorry but its true. :p

Thought this might be on topic :)

Apologies for taking this OT

There were a lot of tall skinny guys in the 70's, when I lived in London in the 70's my friend's father was an extra as a stormtrooper in ANH and he was skinny as hell. What conventions are you going to? Take a look at the UKG, most are tall and skinny, like I said I'm not saying females weren't used, hell I hope they were, but wouldn't it would be great to see photos. Conversations are not 100% proof.

Oh my GOD I've created a monster, A MONSTER I tell you :angel

Seriously, should we take this to another thread? It would be a shame to derail a thread about an amazing recreation of the ANH Stormtrooper armour.

If I reading Jez correctly

In a nutshell, the shoulder bell is attached to the white connection bridge with a strip of black elastic.

Hi Oldken,

I dont think anyones saying there were no women stormtroopers.

Its just that all the on-set photos I've so far have been of blokes (both at Elstree and Tunisia). Maybe there were just a few women?

TBH its not something I've ever thought of asking someone like John Mollo, who would surely know, but next time one of us gets the chance maybe we should.

Cheers

Connection bridge? What do you mean?

Hi All,

On the www.imdb.com there are some of the actors listed who played stormtroopers maybe only about 10 or so but none appear to be women. Possibly these are only stunt guys listed

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/fullcredits

interesting enough some of the sandtroopers are credited individually.

Cheers Chris.

Wow never knew Cy Town was a stormtrooper. I'm more familiar with his long-standing role (or technically long-sitting role) as a Dalek operator in the original Doctor Who.

All the behind-the-scenes pics of troopers are blokes, video footage etc. etc. so I'd be surprised if there were more than one or two that were women... and we know actors' version of events isn't always reliable - like Jeremy Bulloch stating that the Boba Fett helmet was made from real metal etc. etc.

Anyways, of more interest on the Imdb.com page is the credit of

Dominic Jack Pizzo Snr. - Stormtrooper costumes (uncredited) :confused

Jez, did John Mollo ever mention this bloke? Was he in charge of the team assembling the formed parts together, or was he the mysterious master-sculptor behind the stormtrooper design?.?.
Very strange as his other movie credits are varied and include production assistant, driver, security etc. etc.

Discuss.... :D

Cheers,
John
