Stormtrooper armour crack repair HELP

I'm repairing a suit of SDS armour for a friend. Any advice on what the best way of going about this would be much appriecated.

I repaired the least visable crack with PVC Weld adehsive and a square of styrene for reinforcement, I then lightly sanded the welded crack and buffed the area back up but there's still a darker line where the crack was.

Am I heading in the right direction here?

Any adhesive advice (UK products) would also be appriecated.

Cheers Andy.

Hope this doesn't incite too much Ainsworth bashing :lol

Good luck. It will be interesting to see the recommendations on how to repair his work. Since it is an SDS suit, why not fire him off an email?

(It took a lot to refrain from snide comments, Def. :p)

Can you post a pic?
Did you sand with new or used snadpaper? Used paper could lead to 'dirt' building up/ staining in the crack.

Yeah I sanded the crack and it did make things worse.

I contacted SDS a couple of months ago and got a qick reply from Andrew saying he'd posted some of the white glue they use, nothing turned up for weeks and I'd moved on to other ideas. Last thursday a package turned up with some glue and a few squares of armour material and an apology! :thumbsup

Might have taken a while but when it's a favour....!

I'll have another go at one of the other cracks and post my results.

Any tips are appreicited.

Cheers Andy.
