Stormie Shoulder Bells on Ebay...recast?

clonemaster666 is the latest user name for recaster 502smallblock aka houseofdroids2011. He changed his ebay user I.D. on Jan 18 to "clonemaster666".

He is so full of goh se.

I asked him about the origins of his mold:

I have no idea I got these in a trade with some other stuff

So basically, it appears imho he straight up lied to me.

Sheesh! Would it be an accurate assumption that pretty much 99% of those selling props on Ebay are recasters? I've never heard someone respond "nope,he's OK" lol.

While the guy is a proudly admits to being a recaster(when he is caught, he won't say it on his auction listings) in all fairness I don't know those particular pieces are recasts but they may very well might be. I have not been keeping up with all his armor recasts. It is my understanding that he is the sole reason why many armor sellers wont send armor to anyone living in 4 four states in his area as they don't want their armor recast. Maybe someone from the stormtrooper groups or Dented Helmet can chime in on his armor. The R2 parts he sells are recasts he bought from an RPF member.

He bought some non SW parts from me and recast them. I twice nicely asked him to stop as I feel that is fair. He did not reply and kept selling. After my attorney contacted him he settled out of court. In speaking to him he seems to feel he is being a hero by selling recasts as he feels original casts are all overpriced. In a hope that he may understand the perspective of the original sculptor I explained to him that the price may be high as we account for the cost of the time for research, the sculpting, mold making and materials so it's not a matter of greed. He never indicated a comprehension of this.

It's also odd that he claims to do very well with CNC routering yet when I asked if it was so fast and easy why is he recasting. He never replied.

You may want to join the facebook recasters page as this clonemaster666 information came out in a recent update.

Recasters never do. Their usual response, and justification/defense for their actions, is something along the lines of "Well, you're ripping off the people who created the original costumes/props, so..." :unsure

So what is the best way to get Ebay to take down these recaster auctions? Their report auction link is kind of kludgey.

So I asked him to clarify his source, since from the looks of the other items in his shop he'd been recasting.

Oh look! He deigned to reply!

AS I have stated I do not know who made these I traded for stuff in the past. Now here is something for you to think about. WHY do these other guys want to go after other people who sell stuff for less its called greed. They are not fans of the hobby they want to make money and they do not want the compatition from others.

I ask you this why does it cost $1000.00 t0 $1500.00 for a set of stormtrooper armor?? When in fact it only costs Less then $200.00 to make. They come up with this bull that they had to buy equipment and their time ECT ECT bull. Its is just greed and they love sticking to you guys. It takes 2 1/2 sheets of .090 abs plastic to make a complete set of stormtrooper armor Cost $75.00 per sheet do the math. Their not into this as a hobby their their to make money. To do a roto cast helmet it costs $5.00 per helmet. Resin is $105.00 per gallon not bad profit is their so to keep the cost up you have to get rid of the others selling stuff. So they get on the forms with their freinds and bad mouth others so you will noy buy from them.

So the choice is yours pay the high prices for stuff of you can pay a fair price for stuff. And make these guys all kinds of money who are not into it as a hobby but JUST to make money.

Have a nice day

Kind of wish this stuff had its own forum. So far down on my "care" list compared to how to posts, tutorials, work in progress and other "making as opposed to copying" work. Not saying it's unimportant, but why not say put it in The Junkyard?

As the thread title denotes the subject matter you can always not read the thread and go onto another. I have no interest in some topics and therefore disregard them.

As far as Rons(clonemaster666) greed remark, he still doesn't acknowledge the hours making a master sculpt and says that time is "BS". Same old story, as a recaster he doesn't have to invest hours in research and sculpts. I just read on another board where a guy has spent 4 hours researching the chess pieces from the original Star Trek just so he can get them right...and everyone here wants props to look correct so I don't need to explain that importance.

Ron, you have told me you still read the RPF. If you are seeing this then I challenge you to actually make your own sculpts then see what is a worthwhile price to charge. I challenge you to make those CNC master patterns for parts(the ones you spoke of that never seem to manifest). I use CAD and can easily come up with at least one new item a month yet with all the ease of your CNC equipment you produce nothing new and still sell recasts. And Ron, if a helmet only costs $5 then why are you selling a Darth Vader for $200 instead of ...perhaps $15? And lastly Ron, since you think recasting is okay then I challenge you for every item that you sell that is a recast that you to openly note on all your auction listings that they are recasts explaining there are originals available by the original artists.

I don't think linking to a live auction of a recaster belongs in the JY...

Having their own forum (question about ebay sellers, seller warnings) is a great idea though.
