Stolen Stormtrooper Armour

Hi all.. hope this is the right place to post this....

As most of you UK members probably knew the weekend just gone was Memorabilia at the NEC....and of course, there were many people and costumers in attendance.

Problem is, is that a fellow UK Garrison member had his complete Stormtrooper armour stolen between Saturday night and Sunday morning from the 'apparently' secure changing area... CCTV is being checked. He is totally gutted as you would imagine.

All I, and fellow members ask is that you can keep an eye and ear open for any info. It's quite possible it may turn up on Ebay, or in the for sale section of various forums.

Now, to the untrained eye all costumed Stormtroopers look the same, but there are huge differences between kits.

This is the usual FX armour but with accurate shoulder bells, accurate RT-Mod helmet fully kitted out with padding, fans and ROM/FX voice unit. Armour has his ID on every piece with permanent marker (but easily removed).

www.starwarshelmets.com has good some reference pics of the vaious kits & helmets.

If you do see or hear anything please, please, please let me or any other 501st /UK Garrison member know.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Mark,

First up sorry to hear such a crappy thing happen to your friend quite disgraceful :thumbsdown

Does he have any pics that would show any signs that would differentiate his armour from others so it could be identified on Ebay etc

Chris

You might also want to watch Whitearmor in case it shows up there.

Havent seen any assembled FX kits on ebay today.

that's wild someone would steal something like that. there's only millions out there and it will be hard to find. good luck

Some people simply have no fear. I can see swiping something small, but a whole suit of armor? I think it's bound to turn up, you just have to remain vigilant. Whoever the douchenozzle was that took it will either sell it, wear it to a con, or display it. Personally I think it will turn up on eBay.

they just rely on no one questioning what they are doing. if it was all boxed in a carry case and they're seen walking from the area. they just say they're part of the costuming crew and they're going home

people wouldn't think twice

Pretty brazen and cowardly thing to do:thumbsdown I hope this guy does not get a decent night's rest or a day's peace until he get's caught. I agree with what has been posted above, this guy is going to put this on Ebay at some point.

True, the easiest way to steal something is in braod daylight like it was yours to start with.

Ill keep an eye out, and post on my site- because of the Judge Minty costume I have a lot of followers from the UK costume groups.

This was very saddening to hear. I was at the event with hollywood heroes and until one of the Ukg mention anything we hadnt realised that someone had messed around moving cases in our changing area as well. I really hope they can catch the B****** that did this.
Ill keep an eye out as well as Dan from Custom creations.

Thanks guys...

OK, here's a pic of the inside of the lid.

Here's what Matt has posted on the UKG forum about his kit...

"Slightly unusual as vocoder painted rather than the usual black sticker. Contained Romfx in right hand cheek tube held in place by black faux leather wrap.

Armour:

FX ( original source/non recast ). Shoulder bells were John Danters finest. All strapping comprised 20mm black webbing rather than elastic. All strap has double poppers at each end, including shoulder bells.
ALL ARMOUR ID'D WITH TK2388 IN PERMANENT BLACK MARKER.

On inside of left thigh small strip of abs araldited in to stop spead of crack. Black foam ( in bits) in forearms. Scuffing on both biceps due to age.
Shins glued at front but open at back with whit industrial velcro.
Thighs glued front and rear with WIDE shims in back.

Shoulder bridges held in place both front and back by single fixture which had domed appearance. white soft velcro on underside of bridges to prevent scuffing."

Cheers.

I'll also keep an eye out on Ebay.

Although there are loads on there, the fact that it's fully made up with a non FX helmet and more accurate shoulder bells should help.

It is possible the thief won't know these are identifying marks. It's usually a case of steal first, think later with the opportunist criminal.

Good luck recovering the kit.

Steven

Sounds like some seriously nice FX mods were done. Makes it that much harder to replace! Mine is nice and secure at work (with an MR lid).

Looks like the thief knew exactly which one to take. That is one nice and enviable helmet interior.

Thanks for posting this up for me Mark mate.
And thanks for all the positive comments from the rest of you all. Needless to say I'm gutted to have lost this, especially as its been a labour of love trying to turn a sows ear into a silk purse so to speak.

Still heard bugger all from either the event organisers or the NEC owners, despite them going through the CCTV cameras and supposedly " let you know what was on them as soon as they are reviewed."

It now turns out that goods were taken froom the trade stands overnight also...a time when only the security staff and cleaners had access to the hall.

Can anyone say inside job? :angry

Just kinda glad they left my newly modded blaster.

More pics of the kit in action can be found on my FB page here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?v=photos&ref=profile&id=631891610

Please keep your eyes peeled so I can catch this tosser.:angry

that sucks! if it was over night it almost had to be one of the staff, or some one the staff knew. i hope you get it back, thats a lot of dough gone....... it will probably be on flea-bay soon

That is awful to hear. I've often thought what I'd do to get back my armor if it were stolen and sounds like you guys are doing the right thing by alerting the community. We've got Wondercon coming up Friday and I usually leave my gear in a secure changing room overnight--makes me think twice about that now.
