Hi, new gi here, rummaging for info on lightsaber blades. I noticed this piece of scenery some time ago, thought you guys might find it amusing. I don't think it counts as profanity as it's in a mainstream film with kids as the target audience. Either the set designer a) took the comment 'remember these guys are a real bunch of ,,,(female reproductive anatomy)' rather literally b) is having a laugh c ) was hoping to get fired or d) has a serious adicition to 'adult' movies. Ended up having to photo the TV as I couldn't find any pic's on the internet - I wonder why?

Most likely it was very intentional. Representations of the female "things" are very big in mythology. And that's not the only place we see it. Most recently.........

This guy talks about how Myth relates to Star Wars, including these symbolisms

Vaginas... The word you're looking for is: Vagina. There's nothing obscene about the word. It's the context that matters.

Huh... The automatic word filters here won't allow VAGI---NA?

How 1950's...

Again, it's the context that matters.

Episode 1 concept art.
The lightsaber on the left ... Was the model for both Qui-Gon's and Palpatine's lightsabers, I would say.

Patrickivan - the word I was looking for begins with a 'c' & most certainly would have been filtered & I was trying to stick to what I'd read about in the forum rules. There also seems to a transatlantic culture difference going on here as everyone this side of the pond I've pointed this out to finds it highly amusing. To be honest that's not the sort of response I was expecting but I've come across this difference in humour between the UK & US before. My mistake.
Joek3rr - I watched the vid, interesting v.interesting... & I might say that if he's right then it's going over the heads of awful lot of people including me & I'm deeply steeped in things mythological. Prequel onwards are just not well made enough or rather the message is too well hidden & I think this equally if not more likely, that G.Lucas has picked the wrong audience for it ie. kids.
Thanks for these replies, learning all the time.

I don't know if I'm getting too old to see sexual meaning everywhere but I find this pretty far-fetched, like, not even the voyager probes are as far as this was fetched, not by a long shot. But I concede I'm not the kind of guy who thinks about reproductory organs whenever he crosses a door...

Now Giger is a whole nother thing. I had the opportunity of visiting an exhibition a few years ago with some original art, very inspiring . But I'ld say the guy went beyond the sexually explicit and into the organically morbid, in a fully conscious and mesmerizing way. Not like the hidden message conspiracy theories of the other examples. I don't say it's not a funny thread though!
btw, excuse my not-dirty mind but what am I supposed to see here?

Oh, you don't see it? Errr, than I must have a dirtier mind. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. LOL

It's not just Giger. Haven't you seen interviews with Dan O'Bannon? He intentionally incorporated sexual themes meant to make men extremely uncomfortable.

Different in how the c word is used? I'm not following you on that. Because we sure as **** call people c's here.

And to be blunt, I think my response for filling in the word you were 100% clearly implying, was funnier, because I used Va-gina instead... I'm surprised you misinterpreted what I was going for there.

Oh well.

I guess I'm just a c for pointing that out LOL

God DAMNIT. How the hell will I be able to watch Alien, and HAVE sex again?! Thanks for ruining both.

edit- huh, the quote feature isn't working for me. That's twice today...
