Starting first costume for first time going to dragon con

I'm going to be making yondu from guardians of the galaxy, so I wanted a few tips on what dragon con is like and what everyone would think about this for a first time cos play?

Go to Dragon-Con.

Dress up.

Have fun.

(Yondu would be fun, but be prepared for the fact that Atlanta can be HOT, even that late in the year. So if you're going to be going from hotel to hotel, consider keeping some touch-up makeup on hand, unless the makeup can survive your sweating...)
