I was just informed by someone that a fellow has launched a new sci-fi forum using the name "starshipbuilders." I know nothing of this site or this person, but it is possible he may be trying to capitalize on the similarity in name with my site, which was open for more than ten years and is very well known.

Here is what I was told:

. . .I know it's intentional. The guy is Mike Tait/Dan Tait. Apparently he's going by the name Mike Wilkins this week. He's a con artist, he's cheated people out of thousands of dollars over the years. He used to be over the endobuilders.com board. He was kicked off ebay for scamming people.

I think he's hoping people will confuse his site with your old one, and a lot of people might. Just wanted to give you a heads up. He's got another site, www.modelrealms.com with a big MR in the corner. He's probably trying to confuse people into thinking he's affiliated with Master Replicas.

So, there you have it. I am not affiliated in any way, shape, or form with whoever has launched this new site. FYI. . .
 
No doubt you have posted a large notice to this effect on your website for all to see.

Their behavior rates up there with recasting...if not worse.
 
Wasn't Model Realms identified by Rolando to be the same guy who re-cast the code-3 pieces and tried selling them as kits?

Yes he is also banned from the RPF way back in the day. Mike Tait is indeed his name.
 
Isnt this the guy who is selling his recast wares on another Sci Fi board too, with full backing of the admins?
Guess ignorance is bliss in this day and age, avoid like the plague :lol

Yeah, he's being coddled over at SSM and in business with the Lester’s since he's selling his wares at their store. I'll probably be banned from SSM for outing him again in their Thunderdome.

Sorry to hear that Charles. He did the same thing to me by making an Ebay username of "sovereign models"

The guy doesn't have an original thought in his head.
 
Well, he *****ed and they locked it over at SSM. Why am I not surprised. :confused

Like I said, they coddle this guy over there.
 
I've only used that site for reference, etc., but now it Looks like I'm NOT going to buy anything from them EVER because of their stand.
 
Getting into business with that guy is only going to cause them problems.

But then what goes on other boards doesn't apply to them. And de-nile is a river in Egypt. :rolleyes

All this even after he recast SSM site a few years ago(even the logo).

This person has no clue to what he is talking about and is a known troll and instigator.

This forum is a discussion forum for master pattern makers and people who work with these makers to lend their knowledge for development.

This forum is not intended to replace other discussion forums, if you would like to discuss with other people in general starship building then please check out
http://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/index.php as they have many topics covering what you may be wanting to discuss and many good members there.

RPF and RI members, we don't feel the need to conform to your rules and regulations, as we are not affiliated with those forums.

**NOTE**
We did not know about a former forum called starshipbuilder.com until recently, when starshipbuilders domain was registered we noticed starshipbuilder was taken but no site or forum
was listed on the server, so we went with starshipbuilders.com as this domain was available.

It would be nice if starshipbuilder was back up. I assume it was a model building site, plastic, resin, SS, etc? I guess I never saw it before it was taken off line.:(
 
There are so many things that could be said about the "Owners" of that other board. They don't even care that people they BANNED from their own board are members again with sock puppets.

Ro her calling you a stalker is laughable. All you are trying to do is show that this guy is no good. Only when he effects their bottom line will they do anything about it. It is a JOKE. Same crap that happened with Sci-Fi Models. As soon as he screwed Alfred Wong over they did something but not before he took money from SO MANY PEOPLE.

Thanks, guys. There does seem to be a clear pattern of behavior here. Unfortunately, guys like this thrive because they can cloud the issue by claiming you can't "prove" what it is they are up to. So, if there's enough smoke in the air to make it difficult to prove in a court of law (i.e. documented by evidence that's clear beyond a reasonable doubt), then they continue getting away with it.

For someone who claims they never saw my site before, he sure did a good job mimicking the overall structure of the forums there while they were still open. Since they've been closed for more than a year now, I'm not believing his claim.

Of course, he's free to lay out his site however he wants. But, like you guys said, the copying is obvious and this is not the first time he's done this sort of thing. I do remember when he opened SS Modeler and copied the SSM site design.
 
The funny part is, they have banned him from their board.

Model Realms is clearly a rip of Master Replicas.

I say we keep stalking the *******, until he is driven out of the hobby all together. Normally criminals should be stalked, that's how you catch them. I guess his own admittance of recasting isn't good enough for those of other boards.
