Awesome work REL. One question, what scale is your E in? I thought it was 1/350 but wouldn't it be much larger than the PL refit model?

Edit. Never mind, I saw your first post, sorry :)

How far out are we Richard?

Looks GREAT...

Almost there, I should have it molded this week.

I'm using Moldmax 30 with Thivex additive to make it brushable. I mix up the silicone then vac it for about 5 to 10 minutes, then add the thickener and brush on a thin first coat and slightly thicker second coat, adding pigment to each layer so I can tell the coats apart. I'll put about 4 coats on with each coat slightly thicker than the last. After the rubber is about 3/8" of an inch thick I'll make a hydrostone mothermold approx 1/2" thick reinforced with burlap. This stuff is amazing, it reproduces the finest detail, so the final kit will have all the surface detail of the master, it even handles the undercuts with no problems.

lol...are you sleeping at all? :D

Sleep what's that?

When I first calculated the scale, I went by the First Contact version which is 685 meters long, that made it 1/675 scale at 40". The Nemesis version, or the Ent E refit, is 661 meters.. They moved the nacelles forward 3.5 % and moved them up 1.3 %, making the whole ship 24 meters shorter than the original. So at 661 meters that makes my 40" model 651 scale. Which I care nothing about, when I first made the plans for this it was at 60" but when I calculated the cost of a making a 60" Ent E it was beyond my budget so I knocked off 20" and that's where I got the 40".

But since I do have the build plans to make one 60", I would rather just make it 1/350 scale at 75" (189cm)if I were to make one that large.

AWESOME, AWESOME SHIP...... Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the window areas were masked and then a few thick coats of primer were sprayed. Remove the tape, and there are the windows.

Holy Moly. Indented?... WOW.... DUUUUUUDE. Yes,.. that is 6 UUUUUU's.

Impressive,... Most impressive,.. but you are not a Jedi yet. B) LOL. Sorry,.. just couldn't resist placing an SW quote on an ST project. :)

Nice work Richard.

LOL. It's I think the Ent E is more Star Wars like, and I'm more of a Star Wars fan anyway. I'm really looking forward to some of the Star Wars projects I have in mind *cough* chrome ships *cough*

My typed Homer impression just doesn't seam to compare to actually being able to verbalize..if you can call it verbalization?. :D

And now the saucer windows, I should have all of the windows on the ship finished by tomorrow. Wait, today is tomorrow....what day is it?

Rel, did you attend Hogwarts or something? Man, how are you doing those windows?. WOW.. I can't believe some of the stuff you are/can do. Teach us. Show us the true way of the force, Obi Wan.

Woa. How are you indenting the windows?
[/b]

I put the window masks on then coat them with 3 coats of primer, after it dries I take the masks off and it leaves indentations. Seems to work beautifully.
