Stargate Staff Weapon

Hey everyone,

After lurking the rpf for a long time, I've decided to make my first prop. I want to try and build a Jaffa staff weapon from scratch. I've searched the net, and downloaded pretty much every reference pic there is. The only issue I'm having is finding the measurements of it. Everywhere I look seems to say a different thing, the most common lengths being 9ft, 7ft, and 6.5ft. From as far as I can tell, the Movie version is longer possibly 9ft, and the SG-1 is smaller. I wanna make the SG version and was wondering if anyone knows the actual length and other dimensions of the staff?

SG-1 full size jaffa staff's are around 7 ft. I've got one of the medium weight open head ones. Not sure what the movie staffs came in at, hopefully Brundelfly can chime in and confirm if they were 9 ft.

I have one of 4 movies ones...I think its only 7 feet.

I guess in a sence... Yes. Haha, I would really like to see this. I have always loved SG staff weapons and there are not many build threads that show the progress or even the final product, here on RPF.
