Stargate SG1 Gone From Netflix

Does anyone know why Netflix pulled Stargate SG1 from its site?

I was streaming in and just got 4 episodes into Season 8 and now it is gone. :angry

The last time I watched it was Tuesday night, so it just got pulled but I can't find any information on it.

Thanks.

Thanks! I appreciate the info....

My wife actually came to the rescue. After she talked me down off the ledge, she told me we could stream SG1 from Amazon.

I now have Season's 8, 9, and 10 in my play list (I think thats what Amazon calls it).

Phew.....that was close.

I will, however, put in my 2 cents to Netflix to see if they will bring it back.

I have had items dissappear from my List on Netflix numerous times. When I called them, they said that as their license expires they remove it from their system until they renew. I usually see the item pop back on my list a few weeks or months later. So as they renew stuff, it is saved in the system and will automatically go back on your list.

Yeah they suck, thankfully i have Amazon as my backup, possibly my fututre provider.

They did the same ages ago with babylon 5, it was on instant for a long time, as soon as I decided to start watching it, they yanked it.

Hi, new rpf member here, and I have been watching SG1 for about a month now (DAILY), and was well into season 3. Someone mentioned that it's available on Amazon, but don't you have to pay a couple bucks per episode to watch ?

ugh, I know i was so upset. SG1 is always my go to for bed or when i just want to feel happy! such a frakkin bummer. but at least amazon is reliable. :)

What, you people don't already own all the DVDs?

Actually, come to think of it, I've got the old school giganto-cases for the season sets (well, except the last three). I could be convinced to part with them for a modest sum (yes, less than the cost of the full-series box set) plus shipping, if someone's interested. It'll clear up some space on my shelves. PM me if you're interested.

I am still PATIENTLY waiting for SG-1 the COMPLETE series to be released on Bluray...From what I am seeing it will be awhile. :facepalm

What a great series. 10 years was too short of a run. I too am looking forward to the Blu Ray release of the complete series.

There's some technical issues for the first few seasons of SG-1 and releasing in HD. They shot non- SFX scenes in 16mm and the SFx scenes in 35mm for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seasons.... switched to all 35mm for seasons 4-7, and then over to HD digital cams for season 8, 9 and 10.

Obviously anything shot in 35mm or with the HD cams can/will look good in HD, but the 16mm poses some issues. You're just not going to get that crisp HD transfer from the 16mm, and probably going to spend a ton of money trying to get it to look semi-decent. Heck even with the regular DVDs you can see the graininess in the non-SFX scenes vs the SFx ones. Who knows at this point if they even have the original film to do the transfers from with the state MGM's been in and even in clear out mode with a lot of things.

I should add, I'm not sure how they rendered the SFX scenes either... they're may be issues with them just doing it in NTSC like they did for Star Trek The Next Generation.... the consequence there is that those shot's can't be upconverted to HD and would have to be redone.... That's why it's taken so long for ST:TNG to come to bluray.... and if that's the case I'm sure the bean counters would be screaming at MGM that it's not worth the investment to redo for bluray release.

Cheech, thanks for that info, I never knew that. No big deal for me if I have to watch it on DVD instead of Blu Ray. Still love it!

I haven't watched the DVDs in ages. Actually just gave away the whole series (movie included) to friends of mine. I'll wait til its on blu-ray if I buy again.

I was going through the seasons about a year ago, and got sidetracked.

I need to pop the DVD in again and pickup here I left off.

Somewhere in season 4 I think.

Yeah, I was doing the same thing on Netflix, but got sidetracked and, because the show didn' thave a super-strong through-line, never felt compelled to go back and pick up where I left off.

I was not a big fan of SG Univurse but I do have SG-1 the full series box set Atlantis and the movies I just found netflix more eaiser.
