Stargate Horus/Anubis Helmet WIP

Awesome just awesome.how computer savvy does some one have to be to do pepakura?

It depends on where you are in the process. If you already have a Pepakura file that someone has created then it's simple- just print out the patterns and start cutting and gluing. If you are creating something from scratch then it's considerably more work as you first have to create your 3D model and then unfold it using Pepakura Designer to create your patterns.

My opinion is that if you just want a fun costume then Pepakura is fine for this helmet. If you want an accurate replica then sculpting and casting is the way to go. The high tech route would be to create an accurate 3D model (good luck!) and then print it using a 3D printer and create molds from that. It would cost a pretty penny to print something this big though.

Ah I guess you worked on the costuming panel Jonny? I was on it last year and will be on the costume panels for next year.

No, I was a bit late in contacting them because I wasn't sure I was going. It was on wedsday I was like "Eh, lets go" and off we went. I did bring a lot of cool stuff that got displayed around the con though...Suits from Space:1999 and 2001, 1:1 battle droid (he hung out at the 501st table lol) Freddy Kruger glove and a few odds and ends...
I got asked to host the Props Panel for next year. I'd like to do two 1 hour panels: an into to prop building & advanced prop building. Going to try and recruit some RPF people for them too.

LOVE to see more Jaff'a stuff for the Stargate Universe Room !

You reading this demaul and honus??? HINT HINT! :lol

Thanks guys and here's a little progress. Hand sanded the whole thing down and fixed some of the details. Shot a coat of primer and there's still a few areas that will need to be fixed and then it's on to the next part.

How'd this come out? Any updates?

Thanks again everyone.

Honus: how far along is your build. Post some pics here if you have the time.

EyeInTheSky: I may do a small run when I'm finished but that might take a while

Nightfall: I'm in Garland TX but I don't think my wife would approve of any visitors (lol). This is my first time sculpting and working with clay so I'm not sure I would offer much advise. Shoot me any questions and I will answer them as best I can.

Here's the revised base of the fan. Will post finished pics of the scribed sides later tonight.

If that run ever happens, I'd like to know about that!
