Stargate Extinction cancelled or on hold?

I was looking on IMDB to see if it said when Stargate Extinction was going to be released. It used to say "In Production", but now all entries about it under several of the actors are gone. I looked it up and it says it's supposedly not cancelled just on hold because Stargate Universe tanked. I saw a blog post from an Atlantis exec. producer saying "Well it would have been about..." so that doesn't sound good. Anyone have any other info about it? I'd hate to think Joe Flanigan is relegated to doing crappy SyFy movies instead of another go at Col. Sheppard!

I think they're waiting to see if another network will buy Universe. If that doesn't work out, they'll go from there. I think they are mainly concerned with Universe, since they didn't expect to get cancelled.

Personally I'd rather see Atlantis, one of the best parts of the recent Universe episodes was seeing McKay again.

Yeah that was part of the reason I think it didn't work. They should have had McKay on the first time they used the stones. I loved the line "As far as you're concerned, I'm from the future." :lol

The "Shepard was right about you" line was great, so was "A cat could understand my presentation." I'm glad he and Eli got a scene together.

I would love to know what happened with Atlantis, even if it were a throw away line.

Last I heard it had been put on hold because without Universe going they don't have the finances to do the Atlantis movie.

I can say for a fact, from production, that it will NOT happen, at all. They are really trying to pitch Universe to other networks right now, and there not giving up on that one, not yet, but no network wants to pick it up. But the Atlantis movie will not happen.

Well I personally hope that someone picks up SG Universe, the series was really starting to pick up pace as this season has progressed, and at this point they could really start to deviate and expand upon the whole 'lost in space' theme and make it much more like Atlantis where they are too far away for 'practical' Earth help but not entirely isolated...

Something along the lines of establishing an intermittent Stargate connection to the ship, but say with a quirk that it only works 'one way' letting Earth send supplies and even new personnel but still leaving the onboard crew stuck and stranded... And then maybe they would get off the darn ship more often and explore...

"I'm sorry to say but the cancellation [of Stargate Universe] puts the brakes on whatever progress the SGA movie had made in the past month, shelving it indefinitely. ... Contrary to what some may think, the cancellation of SGU is very bad news for those looking forward to an Atlantis movie."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog)

NEW! February 11 - "For what it's worth, it involved a return mission to Pegasus, the tragic end of one relationship, the beginning of another, and a surprising progression in the alliance between one man and one Wraith."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog)

fan writes: “Joe, I stopped by last night, saw the Extinction script, and got really sad. Sadder than I’ve been since the cancellation of SGA was announced. I just left. I’m still sad. I think I need a hug.”

Answer: Rally the troops and convince the studio to either publish the script. Once you read it, you’ll be incapable of sadness. (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog)

Too bad, the producers are clearly backing the wrong horse. Universe was ****, Atlantis was still viable.

You think they would be able to sell it as a low budget syndicated show or a bunch of tv movies like they did with B5 at the end.
