Star Wars Uncut: Director's Cut on Vimeo

"Finally, the crowd-sourced project has been stitched together and put online for your streaming pleasure. The "Director's Cut" is a feature-length film that contains hand-picked scenes from the entire StarWarsUncut.com collection.

Many thanks to Aaron Valdez (video editor - aaronvaldez.com) and Bryan Pugh (sound design/mixing - pughtube.com) for the countless hours they put into this masterpiece.

    The Story:

In 2009, thousands of Internet users were asked to remake “Star Wars: A New Hope” into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted. Within just a few months SWU grew into a wild success. The creativity that poured into the project was unimaginable.

SWU has been featured in documentaries, news features and conferences around the world for its unique appeal. In 2010 we won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media.

We can't thank everyone enough for making this such a special project.

Such an awesome project, and a lot of fun to watch. If they decide to give Empire a try, I'll definitely submit a scene!

I can´t believe that the announcement for the project did not make the rounds in 2009, at least it totally went over my head!

And yes, if ESB will be made, I´ll see if I can add something, too!

I could have done without the creepy 3PO porn scene and the random F-bombs that people decided Star Wars needed in their scenes. Disappointed in the director that he'd include that crap, in what otherwise is a very creative bit of fun!!

Ok so Im almost finished with watching it. I would have liked to see at least one segment with accurate costumes. I guess the the RPFer in me talking:lol The funniest scenes were the ones where the whole family gets involved.

Now that you mention it, I think they hid the project from the RPF on purpose...

Wow, couldn't even get through the first 10 minutes. Some of it was an interesting take, but most of it was just bad. I'd like to forget this more than the Special Editions.

I watched this over the weekend, and it was a riot. One of the best things to happen to SW in a long time. The format was nice, the short segments made the bad parts forgettable and the good parts stand out that much more. The feel of a "labor of love" sold this as a film. I'd love to see ESB and ROTJ receive the same treatment.

This was very interesting to watch. You can definitely tell the difference between the folks who really tried, the one's who totally didn't, and the ones who were, well...just not that good.

The gay segment with C-3PO and Luke was pretty interesting :confused Well narrated.

Nice to see some genuinely interesting takes on the scenes. I liked the Old West style one with Obi-Wan throwing apples that Luke parries with a sword. Definately some that I wouldn't mind seeing other scenes from.
I also enjoyed spotting two of the folks from Starship Intrepid (a Trek fan series) doing a scene that mentioned the Starfleet.

I enjoyed the segments that actually tried to do something interesting, but sorry, most of that looked like it was made by 3rd graders.

I sure thought home video production had come way further than that. Guess not.

Very disappointing but an interesting project.

Access to all the tools in the world doesn't make one a talented filmmaker.

I'm about 30 minutes in, and am mostly enjoying it for what it is.

Overall I'm enjoying it. Some of it is awful but there are moments of genius (comic or otherwise) sprinkled throughout. Some of the "altered" footage was entertaining but I would have preferred for it all to be fan-made. (Seems like cheating.) I just wish the director/editor had kept it as kid-friendly as the original movie.

have you guys seen this? it's brilliant. the following is an excerpt from the wiki article:

Star Wars Uncut is a 2010 fan film remake of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It is a shot-for-shot recreation of the "Special Edition" version of the film made from 473 fifteen-second segments created and submitted from a variety of participants. The full film was made available on the Internet in August 2010 and may be watched for free. The project was conceived by Casey Pugh, a Web developer who was 25 at the time of the release.[1]
In July 2009, Pugh created a website where fans could sign up to recreate specific 15-second scenes[2] from the Star Wars film. Multiple submissions were submitted for each scene, and votes were held to determine which ones would be added to the final film.[1][3] Although the scenes reflect the dialogue and imagery of the original film, each scene is created in a separate distinct style, such as live-action, animation and stop-motion.[3]
Many of the sequences are filmed in deliberately crude, low-budget or otherwise comical manners, and the actors do not always resemble the original cast.[3] One scene is a stop-motion sequence using Lego Star Wars figurines.[1] Another mimicks the animation style of the 1968 Beatles film Yellow Submarine.[1] Others are parodies of specific pop culture sub-genres, such as anime cartoons and grindhouse films.[3] Star Wars Pez candy dispensers are featured prominently in some scenes.[4][5]

give it a watch. it's pretty good. albeit a little weird...:lol

    Re: Star Wars Uncut

I followed this from the beginning (and even considered submitting something when they still had alot of free slots) and over the course of a year and a half watched it come together - some really cool stuff in there.

Also of interest, the "de-specialised Editions"

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED is now released!!! (Page 1) - Harmy - April 5, 2011 at 12:35 PM - originaltrilogy.com forum
