Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

JJ almost dropped out of this one! He doesn't want to spend this much time in the UK. Disney probably wanted his experience and leadership up front on the first one to set the template, and then pass it off to capable-yet-cheaper hands. I imagine JJ will continue to produce, as he is with Star Trek and Mission: Impossible while others direct.

Agreed, it was never said JJ would direct all three films, so many just assumed that but I don't see JJ being up for the long haul with SW or even ST. I think he likes to be a Producer and will likely continue in that capacity while he directs other project which catch his fancy.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Isn't JJ Abrams starting something and than letting others continue the work kind of the norm for him?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Not to mention lucasfilm/Disney said themselves that the release date would not be affected by Ford's injury

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I believe If George had written an outline for the Prequels and had someone else develop and direct them, they would have been 100% better. I Like George, but I'm glad this is being developed and directed by others.

You and me both! :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

So far, all sources report no delay in the release date.

Even with Ford out 6 months but won't matter, LucasFilm has reserved this studio space for years, they don't need to break down their production and then out it all back in place.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Glunark posted this on the General Modelling Section:

People are saying the new Falcon prop is 111 feet long, does that sound about right for a proper full sized version?

I replied:

Wo.....going by the guys (& here) over at 'Full Scale Falcon Project' they work out that a proper 1:1 scale Falcon would be 114 ft,.....so I hope your rumour is true

Final Outer Dimensions

Using the DK Ultimate Collection blueprints as our guide, we have calculated the final outer dimensions of the structure. The DK blueprints use the same overall length as the Robert Brown estimate. From there, we arrive at:

  • Length: 114 feet
  • Beam (docking ring to docking ring): 81.5 feet
  • Height to top of body (not counting quad-laser turret): 24.9 feet
  • Height to top of dish: 30.9 feet
  • Clearance: ground to landing gear bay level: 7.8 feet
  • Clearance: ground to outside bottom of cockpit tube: 13 feet

Glunark then posted a link to a news article:

Ford was about to start a scene involving the 111ft vehicle when the incident occurred.

......So if the report is accurate, the EP7 Falcon could be 1:1....:):):):):):):):)

Here's my thought. Would they really have any inside information that the Ep VII MF is 111ft (and if so, why is it not reported elsewhere yet), or is it just a number they pulled off the internet calculated by people like us that they threw in there to make the accident causing vehicle sound more menacing for the sake of the story?

Ah, this thread would be nothing if not for rumor. :lol
