Yup. The RC helmet easter egg in The Force Unleashed was a teaser to let us know it was in the works. *sigh*

Eh, RC was good enough that if a sequel never comes, I'm fine. If anything, I would've loved to have seen a co-op mode added on to play with 3 other friends.

That worked for Kyle Katarn in Dark Forces/Jedi Knight! I agree RC wasn't the best game ever, but the characters, especially if you read the novels, are cool and they could have come up with a really good sequel. Also remember that they were still trained as Clone troopers, to protect the Republic, so having them become Stormtroopers and gradually start seeing injustices pop up and how they dealt with it, would have been interesting. I would guess a lot of clones would join the Rebels if they had their chip (cringe...) removed. I mainly just wanted to know what happened to Sev since they banned Karen Traviss from writing it.

Suffice to say, the RPF has well documented my opinion on the matter.
If the story is good, I'm willing to let it slide but, for me, bred to be completely loyal means just that. The whole premise of RC was that if the movies are from, to quote, "the lofty perspectives of the Jedi", then the game was to tell a story from the hardened soldiers who fought through the wars. To see that side of the story wholly without them going "good" is still something I've yet to see done well and that is something I would whole-heartedly welcome. I'd love to see the point of view of the people who fought the wars, as well as the ethical implications involved of creating life to essentially die, from the defense of the Republic to its reformation to the Empire. Especially in these times, I think there would be some extremely smart parallels of the Rebellion seen as religious terrorists wanting to destroy the safety and order the Empire brought, even if it were at the cost of some liberties.
Also, to that note, it'd be more interesting narratively if Sev just died. It's not only part of the job they risk but that is the very thing they were created to do: sacrifice themselves. Star Wars has a legacy of undermining itself and that's something I'd definitely like to see change.

They have chips? When was this? I only recall what was said in AotC, and even then, there is plenty of great story potential within those limits.

Paradise Lost is considered a classic but it's still not considered a part of the Bible.
That's one thing I will say that Lucas really screwed up on. I would have rather them said it was flash programmed and laid dormant until they got the order. I seem to remember Lucas saying somewhere that Order 66 was not programmed. I can't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure a chip is programming. I liked the RC novel and EU version where it was just one of 100 contingency orders. It makes the Jedi look doubly stupid and arrogant because they would have seen that and said "Well we'll never try to take over, so no problem!"
It's a biological implant in the brain. "Chip" is kind of a misnomer. But it still makes very little sense, as-is. It seemed to be acting to inhibit an irresistable compulsion to kill, specifically, Jedi. Because Palpatine was actively blocking and redirecting investigation, the details and overall mechanism are never fully laid out. Was it a posthypnotic-type order imparted through flash-training, designed to work in concert with that implant? Or all the implant, in some way? Never clarified before the show was stopped.
