Hi Everybody,

I don't know if this will interest anybody but I have been building a 1:1 size Chopper droid from the new Star Wars:Rebels animated series.
I have been doing a build thread on another site, but i thought that some people may be interested in this.
I will only put up a couple of pics fro people to see and if people want to see more I will continue to post them.

that is fantastic, i've never seen someone use foam like that on an astromech. you've got me thinking now.:)

They are score lines and use of pen tops pressed in and turned to make the impressions. These will stand out more when the foam is eventually sealed.

Other parts of the foam are cut out and glues in recessed.

how tough is it when its sealed and have you made other stuff with it before? (i know its used for iron man type suits)
bet this technique could make a decent, affordable ig88, hmmm....

Wow! this build really has me thinking now! Ill have to look at some more of these foam builds and try is some time.

Once its sealed with PVA glue you can use bondo to fill and sand or use fiberglass. I am doing a Sabine Mando helmet with the same stuff and thats turning out well. I did do my son a Darth Vader outfit aswell which looks good, but that was a rush job for a con.

Feel free to check out the other pics on my flickr page

that vader is priceless, a reveal vader no less. great photo by the way.
i'll be very interested to see how well you can tackle those corners, the rest looks done to me. keep up the posts.

All completed by hand from a couple of ref pictures. There isn't a great deal released yet, just the teaser pics.
I haven't done any more on this build yet as I have other projects Im working on and have to slit my time between them, but as soon as more is done I will post more pics.

Looking good, very impressive.
glad to see you are back. :)
are you going to finish the whole thing before you start painting?
also where do you get the foam sheets that big?
