it was shallow enough that Maul was able to survive the impact, even with being cut in half.
Ugh, I know CW is sorta-canon, but that was absolutely ridiculous, and I sure hope that event is never confirmed in film canon.

But you're assuming Maul's anatomy is similar to that of humans. For all we know Dathomirians are nothing but excess fat below the chest, and Obi-Wan actually did him a favor by getting rid of it.Because there's cheating and then there's cheating. He was bisected through the abdomen. He would've needed stronger Force powers than have ever been shown possible elsewhere.
(and the spider thing was goofy)

I presume that if you try to fly around/above/below them, they will see you coming and move to intercept.(1) How do you set up a blockade around a planet in space... in a single circle... and why do ships flying off the planet fly directly into it instead of just going over it?
Good question. I think I recall some of the preproduction sketches showing another smaller gun at the top rear. Also, they do have that rotating gun on the side of the head that would give some aft coverage.(2) ATATs only seem to have guns on the "head"... Why do the rebel pilots keep flying straight at the ATAT?
I never understood why this bothered people. Astromechs, to my mind, are like Swiss Army knives built from LEGO pieces. They would have some optional attachments. Artoo used the thrusters in the prequels because he had them. For some reason, they had been removed and replaced with some other component by the time of ANH.(3) Why did R2 not use his rocket legs in the 3 original movies?
Not sure, but some things come to mind in general regarding the Force and the way the Jedi use it. They show several abilities in the prequels that one might wonder why they don't use much more often -- I'm thinking especially of the "Force dash" we see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan use to get away from the droidekas in TPM. Why don't they use that in duels, or at least far more often? I presume that there must be a limitation, partly dependent on their skill and experience. I guess the Force dash is too tiring to use for extended periods, or they'd all run around like the Flash much more often. Yoda is about as strong as a Jedi gets because he is so old and experienced, which is why he can duel the way he does. Some think he was faking his slow, limping gait given his dueling style. I think his limitations were real, and he gets around it in a duel because he is mostly using the Force to throw himself hither and yon, the way others use it to throw inanimate objects.(4) How can Luke use the force to flip switches and move stuff around, but has to throw a rock at a button to drop the door on the Rancor?
About R2,....I remember noticing that he sounded completely different in ROTJ,.....B.Burtt must have made a load new noises for him......I remember mentioning this on OriginalTrilogy.com where everyone pointed out that I was just plain wrong & that R2 sounded exactly as he did in the previous films ......including Adywan
Glad to hear theres someone else who thinks there was a difference
....3PO......I've seen those images millions of times & never noticed the straight wires,....probably just a new lighter costume & they didn't copy the mess over,....(OCD maybe?)

I never understood why Wicket can talk in those movies but not in ROTJ. I used to assumed they took place after ROTJ and he had somehow learned but was shocked when I found out they occurred before.
I assume the Ewok movies are still canon. In fact there's speculation that Cindel Towani is Capt. Phasma. Lol! Doubtful but that'd be a hoot.
And yes, Maul's surviving being severed in half and falling down a deep shaft is incredibly ridiculous.
A lot of that was fan assumption. There was never anything official that says Anakin was older or when the Clone War started. The Empire did take longer than one movie. The Empire wasn't even beginning to have real control until ANH. Up to then they still needed the Senate. So that was 20 years or so. All we saw in ROTS was the first step.
