Star Wars Merr Sonn Blaster Builds - Take 3

Yeah, I can see I'm going to have to buy some more of these :lol

Gave one a quick coat of black, just need to weather & epoxy it in place

finally got round to gluing the cylinder parts in place on my resin blaster tonight

moving forward slowly

Glued the cylinder halves on either side of the resin Merr Sonn,

also added the engine cover over the ejection port had to raise it on a piece of plastic

added some t-track & pushrods to the top of the barrel

just need to figure out the coiled cable now

i hadn't been planning on redoing this resin blaster but thought I may as well for fun

really need to make a start on the Denix one

Also the notched imperial discs were on sale so I ordered a couple more for other builds :)

:lol I'm not sure that the roughness is entirely intentional, more the result of prizing parts off & re-painting, but I like it too

started working on the coiled cable tonight, can't find anything close to the coax/plug end so I'm just going with what I could find for now

think the coaxial connector I've got is a touch small, I painted the metal part black & I've glued a rubber lug (from my BMW badge) to the back which will hopefully hold the cable in place

the coiled cable is from a car phone charger should be enough to make the cable for this one & my metal one

trying to go for 6 full coils, I've added a little tube to the side at the back left that the cable will sit in not accurate I'm sure but I didn't want to just have the cable glued

just need to epoxy it all in place now & I can call this one done :)

Got my Denix for the metal one taken apart tonight, need to cut off the sight so I can finish the bull barrel

Ok I think the resin Merr Sonn is finished again :lol

So here's. Before & after (at which point people say er it looks the same :facepalm)

I had no intention of redoing this one it kinda happened by accident when I screwed up cutting the Tomtit cylinder in half for my Denix build

I'm actually really quite pleased how it turned out,

I know some of the details are inaccurate i.e. right side greeblies & left side lower greeblies but I figure they look ok

then there's the coiled cable, length of the bull barrel etc. but I think the Tomtit parts look better than what I had on before :lol

Could have done done a better job touching up the paint where I'd taken off the old parts

need to get started on my Denix build now, cut off the front sight tonight ready to start trying to fit the bull barrel

Thanks Markus :)

Finally made a bit of progress with my Denix Merr Sonn

filed down the Denix Barrel to fit my plastic bull barrel & cut the barrel down to length

maybe could have taken it back a touch further down the barrel but it fits & it's straight so I'll go with it :lol

from what I can tell the Merr Sonn Bull Barrel should be longer than the Han ANH,

I'm kinda eyeballing it but basing the visible part of the Bull Barrel on the length of a pushrod laid on t-track

also painted a set of grips black ready to go on

Started painting all the parts today

decided that I'd paint the Denix Mauser black rather than blue it because I'd struggle with the plastic bull barrel , I kinda feel the Merr Sonn should be painted & I hate bluing Denixs :lol

I got the bull barrel to just pressure fit securely by adding some plastic rings over the Denix barrel underneath, this way I can always swap it out if I ever get a metal one

bit more painting tomorrow but looking forward to getting it put together

The tomtit engine cover goes on top of the bolt at the ejection port with the long "arms" of the part facing the barrel

Checking out Paul's builds and ran across this. I've never seen that part -- or any part -- on top of the bolt. Just the plug/scope resting slightly above it, with a barely-visible gap. I don't see that part used anywhere on the Merr-Sonns.

I wasn't sure about that Tomtit part but I think it's there

here are a few pics where I think you can see the part, I think you can just make it out on the picture with Leia holding it

but you can see it better in the other 2 pics (you can see the front edge in the barrel pic & the hollow underside in the blaster pic)

I'm pretty much ready to put mine together now

(I meant to post this a few days ago but since IOS 8 I cant seem to add pics from my Ipad)

Now you say it, I think I see what you're talking about. I was looking too far forward. I'd been wondering how the plug was going to sit on the top of the receiver, and now I see that's where the catamaran bit goes. Blends in well, it does. :facepalm

Denix Merr Sonn put together :)

again like the resin one resin one I'd say it was idealised rather than accurate

I'm pretty happy, if I manage to find a better scope tip, little left side round greeblies or the right side greeblies I'll upgrade

bull barrel & flash hider are just press fitted & can be taken off if needed only the greeblies are glued

kinda want to do a broken barrel one now :lol

Only having come to this hobby (& joined here) about 2 years ago I constantly find myself coming a bit late to the party :lol

I saw one of these pics posted by Mara Jade's Father in another thread

I've seen these promo pics lots of times but somehow never noticed that he has the Merr Sonn in the holster! (I'm sure everyone else noticed this umpteen years ago)

I'm assuming that these were taken at the same time as the promo shots with the Greedo Killer which I know didn't fit the holster with its flash hider on & probably the same time as the Leia pics with the Merr Sonn so they just thought yeah stick that in the holster it'll do ;)

anyway I guess I can now legitimately class my Merr Sonn as a Han Blaster :lol
