Star Wars Ep1 Trade Federation Tank - Armored Assault Tank Making of

Hi guys, we would like to share with you our last project, a Trade Federation Tank,

Just mention a little bit of the process. This raw model had just the appropiate size to be painted. We've fixed all the panels with a model cutter just to give the final product a better look.

Once assembled, the turret and cannon's gun should spin around a shaft and the cannons move up and down either. Even though it may seem hard to believe, the main body consists of two joined parts, so the filler was necessary to hide the junctions.

The central cannon was initially pretty nice, but it came in two pieces, then it was better to replace every piece by some plastic and iron tubes. All grips were also replaced by stronger moulded metal tubes.

We used a sand colour as a first paint layer, definitely better for red and ochre tones. Now it seems to be ready to paint!!

We are still on it, so we'd appreciate any contributions

UPDATE

After a long weekend, here we have the model update. Camouflage colours painted and arranged, mixing three tones in very different proportions.

We've used oil painting with oxid-kind traces on it. This is our first time working with oil, but not the last one, cause it allows a great detail control and excellent results. We tried not to abuse oxid and dirt details, giving it a well-adjusted look.

Feel free to give us advice!!!

I love that look. That's how tanks should look. i don't care how fancy the tech is a tank is going to rust, especially on a planet like the one Jarjar is on. Seriously couldn't have the death star blown that up before jarjar could reproduce?

Hahaha, we love your question about JaJar and the capability of the death star to avoid anything about JarJar. ;)

And thank you very much for your kind words, in our next pictures you will see we have reduced the rust level, but we have deployed it all over the model. We will post new pictures ASAP. We have to admit that this is the first time we have used oleos for painting and we will use them again.

Thanks for your comments Wes. ;)

FINAL UPDATE

Finally we've finished our ATT!!

It seems that the paintbrush strokes have given excellent results. We've slightly darkened the tones of the fuselage, added subtle rust marks and uneven damage brush strokes.

Adding artificial grass and dirt to its belly proved to be a strenuous job. The AAT is supposed to float but, considering that Jar Jar hung from its turret, it must have touched the ground.

We hope it meets your expectations :) Thanx a lot for your advice!!!

Hi again, Tomorrow morning we are going to take some pictures in a park with natural day light and nex Sunday we are going to post a full gallery of those pictures with many details and some compositions with the trade federation tank in the lands of Naboo, we hope they likes you!

Thank you!

We're sorry we couldn't finally update these AAT final shots and compositions last weekend. Rainy weather here in Madrid and we thought it wasn't a good idea to ruin our model :S

Hope you'll enjoy them. As always, we'd appreciate very much any contribution, even once finished.

Thanx a lot friends

Awesome weathering job. Paint can make or break a model, but this is a definite win. Can't wait to see more models. :thumbsup

Thank you very much wasili, we don´t know right now if we are going to post pictures of Draco, from Dragon heart, o a Viper MKI from Galactica, but we can reveal that in a short period of time we will create a thread to share the AT-AT Imperial Walker that we are building since a year ago. ;) We are still working on the belly, the neck and the head. We are trying our best to create two main cannos that could simulate firing recoil.

Thanks again for your comments! ;)
