Star Wars Cantina bar

Hi chaps, I am after some help. I am trying to find images of the Mos Eisley cantina bar area. I cant seem to get good quality screen grabs. I have some sort of low rez Blue Prints.... any help or suggestions would be great!! :confused

Try taking shots while playing the dvd on your computer, that usually works. Also search for the basic layout online. I think you'll find what your looking for.

Have you seen the blueprints from ballantine? they come in the packet with the falcon cockpit, landing gear, sand crawler treads etc. All copies of plans used in ANH production. can be had for cheap via amazon or ebay (watch out for people selling it for hundreds or even thousands though...)

here are some shots that show a good bit of the bar, and how it relates to the floor and ceiling. From the blueprints it look like the lower half of the bar has a wraparound perspex section which conceils a dim floor lighting, which I never noticed before.

also, I'm attaching a quick set up I did in sketchup from the blueprints I have. I don't mean to presume, but if you're doing a 1/6 cantina bar, I can probably help out with some dimensions.

Wow Steve, you are a master at Sketchup. I love how you can take any scene and break it down to its basic construction. It’s like seeing things for the first time again. Dorgmal, just curious, are you planning on building a scale version on the cantina?

I am on tender hooks wondering the same thing. If it turns out anything like his Falcon cockpit, I'm pretty excited about it (no pressure, heh)

thanks randy!

Steve seriously, exactly how close are you to having the star wars universe duplicated?

I'd pay money to travel a virtual OT SW universe. If you are taking VR orders, I need a TIE fighter with a hyperdrive & shields, a Landspeeder, R2-D2, The Tonnika sisters 0 BBY of course, Chewie, The Millenium Falcon (for family trips), Ben's SW saber, Luke's SW saber, Han's GK, a couple of E-11's, and an AT-AT.

Love your Cantina. I never really noticed that the bar counter shape seems Landspeeder inspired huh?

Dorgmal, If you have a 1/6 IG-88, someone recently pointed out that the same car part that was cast for his head makes up a number of the drink dispensers at the the bar, specifically the three right in front, and at least one more further back.

from this, it also looks like the center console was modified from the original plans, and actually looks more like the bar itself, with a layers of white perspex as the surface.

Damn IG88's head shows up again - I can't beleive I never noticed that until now... I feel like such a noob...:eek

Those 'heads' are actually from inside the combustion chambers of a Rolls-Royce Derwent aircraft engine! I bet there are lots of Star Wars parts that come from this engine!

You might actually want to conisder using Star Wars: Galaxies screenshots as a source for this. Textures may not be 100% but I recall the actual model being very accurate in scale and design.

That was years ago that I remember it though...maybe they ganked it now and turned it into some sort of "Clone Wars" cantina...

a quick google search for "star wars galaxies cantina" returns a rich array of total garbage, so I'm guessing they ganked it, as you say...

Ever since this thread started, I can't stop fiddling with recreating the cantina. To that end, I found a great reference website for the cantina here: Cantina Maps Blue Prints

which includes this photo of a cantina maquette, presumably used during production.

So, using sketchup, I recreated this model with sketchup's photomatch tool, and then imported the bar I had already made from the official blueprints.
Here is the result:

and here's a stereoscopic render of the same scene, if everyone can do cross-views, just for fun.

anyone interested in scale schematics based on this model? I would love to colaborate with a physical model builder, using this. Or with a wealthy contractor, with lots of time and geekyness on their hands. Think of the money that could be made from converting the right sized building into the cantina!
