Star Wars anime WOW!

This is just pure awesome.
Is it me or does anyone else the impression that this is almost trying to put accross the perspective that the Imperials are the good guys?.
I think it is because they are focusing on the imperial pilots and looking at the war from the point of view of the "Bad guys". That they are fighting for what they believe is the right way of life.

Either way it is frakking amazing.

I wouldn't say it makes them look like the good guys, just shows it from their point of view.

Your natural tendency is to root for the guys that the clip focuses on. This shows the Rebels as the "faceless" ones.

Exactly.

Actually, this kind of thing is a staple of anime -- focusing on both sides of a conflict, and making even the "badguys" charismatic and likeable at times.

The Gundam series, especially in the old days (0079, Z-Gundam) did this all the time, and would spend plenty of time in the cockpits of "bad guy" pilots, especially aces.

Yeah, actually kind of the opposite for me; they're bad guys through and through, but very much as OB and Solo describe. That dark haired dude looks himself to be a staple character of anime, chock-full of Khyron-esque boiling madness. The female bomber pilot ditto. The sanest one is likely to be the older mustachioed dude; I would put good money on him being a baron or similar, too. As mashups go this one nails everything.

Exactly. Kinda like....this guy:

WAY.... WAY BETTER than any of this CGI cartoon stuff I've been seeing these past years.

I love how that was done. Somehow it just feels like a much more rich feel and a more true homage to the classics, but keeping it as its own thing.

This is how it should have been done. I also think much more of the old concepts from the originals should have been carried out in the newer films and clone wars cartoon, but that's another discussion...

If he's the guy who was responsible for the reconstruction of The Invasion, then I LOVE their work. I really enjoyed that approach to restoring the lost episodes. We may not be able to get all of the old stuff back ever, but it's nice to see an attempt at reconstructing what they can.

No, he wasn't working for them yet when The Invasion was done. I believe that The Reign of Terror is the first official Doctor Who DVD he's worked on, aside from a few bits of test footage.
