Star Trek TOS Blu-Ray Sound off

I tried searching for this issue with no luck. I have a question for those who bought the three season blu-ray TOS series. I am finding that about halfway into the episodes, the sound track is off by several seconds and by the end of the show, it is off nearly 8 seconds from the visual. Is anybody else having this problem.

I have only watched a few episodes from season 2 (both of which I have not seen for years) and was very turned off by this sound issue. BTW this is my first experience with Blu-ray as I just go the player for my birthday last week along with the DVD's.

Any suggestions on fixing this or should I just send it back.

Cheers

The first thing would be to verify if it's the discs or the player. The most obvious method would be to play something else and see if it gets the same problem (with the same audio options), or put those discs into a friend's Blu-ray player and see if the same thing happens.

The most obvious thing would be to verify that your player is up to date. Unlike DVD, Blu-ray authoring specs change almost daily, and if your player's firmware is out of date, it's going to have issues with some discs. Does the player have online capability? How does it update itself?

In my experience (I haven't had this issue with Blu-rays, only DVDs), it's a combination of factors, in both the disc and the player, that cause it. Neither is 100% responsible on its own, but when you combine certain discs with certain players, bad things happen.

Thanks for the suggestions. My player is online, so I think it is updating, but I will check on it. I will also try another movie to see if it does the same.

If you just bought the player and have not done a firmware update you need to do that first. You will probably have to do it manually through the menu. I have all of the trek blue rays and don't have this issue.

I have this issue sometimes... and I have done a firmware upgrade on my player. Sometimes if I pause an episode the sound will be off just as you describe Sebastian. Doesn't happen all the time but when it does its pretty annoying.

I've had this with my Sony player on a Samsung DLP TV.. the player and TV had to be switched on in a particular sequence. Most annoying.. it marred my initial experience with Blu-Ray quite a bit. Updating the firmware did nothing, though it's always a good idea anyway.

However, my LED TV has never had a problem, so I put it down to protocol issues between the player and (older) TV.
