Star Trek T.O.S. Bridge Build 1:10 Scale

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

Managed to find a little time to build Sulu's targeting scanner. It is built to the exact dimensions on the McMaster plans but it seems a little smaller than it should be.

This has inadvertantly worked to my advantage though as it is small enough that I have decided to make it actually retract into the helm console as per the original in the TV series. I know it should fold in the middle but, Hey! I'm only human! LOL!
Here is a pic of the hinge extension I added to make the whole thing work:

I then edged and bordered the command podium and after filling and sanding, I sprayed it up....

Then cut and fitted the grey carpet...

And finally, the helm and command chair. I will not glue the carpet into place until everything else is finished and painted and in position.

I think it is really starting to take shape now.

Thanks for looking in guys and please feel free to comment or critique or just say hi! LOL!

Way to go, Darren! That is looking awesome! :thumbsup

I was always intrigued with Sulu's scanner. I don't know who came up with it (I don't think season 1 had it), but it was just a neat, inspired piece of engineering. I remember one or two episodes where the ship goes to red alert, the commercial break is impending, and among the hubbub is that scanner rising out of the console (I can even hear it as I type!). A really nice dramatic visual cue!

Thank you, Gentlemen!:) I appreciate your support!
My genius brother has graciously offered to help with the wiring and soldering, which will help massively with this build. He is superb with all that stuff and I am rubbish at best, so stay tuned for some awesome light shows in the near future!

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

sweet build... makes me wonder though, why carpet, we are in space and can go warp speed and were still using carpet... just saying ;)

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

I know what you mean, but as they seem to have always preferred to all be thrown around the bridge like rag dolls, due to Star Trek's refusal to install seat belts, the carpets were probably the only thing stopping them splitting their heads open when they hit the decks! :lol
Thanks for the kind words BTW :)

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

Hey any progress? I'm chompin at the bit for as much of this one as possible. Bout to sit down and start mine or maybe just play with the figures a little. Lol, keep it coming!!

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

Apologies to one and all but lately I feel lucky if I just get five minutes to sign on and look about. :(
I will return to this in the near future, but right now I am having to give my undivided attention to other things....ahhh, the stuff we put up with...

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

Dude I thought you'd like to see this. While you are doing TOS bridge, I'm working on some Enterprise NX-01 environments. I'm starting with a hallway, gonna try and incorporate it into the bridge playsets for these figures, and maybe even figure out a way to make an engine room. Let me know what you think.

The link works on the normal site, but not on my iphone for some reason. Sorry folks, I'm still a little new

Re: Star Trek T.O.S. Enterprise Bridge Build 1/10th Scale

This is frickin' sweet! I would love to have a set up like this or the transporter room for my Diamond figures. Great job! I look forward to seeing the rest of this come together.
