Star Trek: Picard

According to IMDB, S2 is scheduled to premiere Jan21. I'm curious when we will hear shooting on S2 has begun. Unless it's already shot...or doesn't happen.

There's even a Picard Prop Gallery? Funny, I can't think of any props from the new series I'd want.........Except 7/9...I'd take Bjayzl too. For sure.

Interesting...according to that prop display, at some point in his career, Picard let his vanity get to him and went “The Shatner Route”...

In TNG: 'Tapestry', his younger self had hair and he scored Ensign Batanides...man was she cute.

i still cringe when i see that tom hardy pic,
it would of been nice to see stewart in both roles and use that other prop pic for his younger self.

I'd say they are more set dressing than props. A prop is anything an actor interacts with or touches, the paraphernalia in the quantum archive which only Picard has access to, which had no real reason to be there when he has a whole chateau to store it in, was set dressing.

The exhibition is misleadingly named, but then I guess that applies to all things Reboot Star Trek related stands for these days.

I wonder why Brian Brophy didn't play Maddox.

That's another weird part about Picard. When they had months to conceive of the story and considering it heavily leans into the Maddox character you think they would check his availability before going all in on this particular plot.
I know characters have been recast before but that was often due to scheduling conflicts back when Star Trek was under the pressure of producing 26 episodes a year, the production has little excuse, they aren't even producing half that number.

At least not having Brian or Manu return you can just pretend that this is an alternate universe and none of this is real!

Don't know if the image of "Cadet Picard" will come through in my quoting, but that thing is such continuity fail. That's an active-service (as in, no longer a trainee) enlisted uniform he's wearing. And not even a complete one. It's missing the chest insignia, left-sleeve service band, and shoulder tabs. And we know the service bar was still in use, as it's on the uniforms of the recently-graduated Ensign Picard (& Co.) in "Tapestry", as well as later into the 2330s and '40s (latest we see is Jack Crusher's recording just after Wesley was born in 2348).

This is the officer cadet uniform of the era, just with a lower collar and no ribbing on that or the cuffs:

But yes, Picard still had hair then:

Manny Coto was getting a handle on things but alas was not in time to save Enterprise.

I'd like to see what he could do now to save Trek itself.

So, ep 5 starts with a scene straight out of a Hellraiser movie, then the previews for the next episode showed what looks like a Lament Configuration puzzle box.

What in blazes is going on? It's horrifying but I can't look away...

Well there's a fun toy for the kiddies. Imagining their adventures in the stars with the latest Star Trek toy.

So, we did the math in our house of keeping our DirecTV package vs subscribing to the various streaming services we would need to see the things that interest us most. Streaming won, so since we already have Netflix and Disney, we added CBS All Access.

I'm just starting episode 4 of Picard and I am thoroughly enjoying it so far.

I love his caregivers, Soji/Daj are interesting, IMO, and man... hearing the old man give the command to "Engage" was all the feels for me. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. (and no, I haven't read through this thread because I don't want to be spoiled unduly) :)

firesprite, some spoilers, but you're mostly caught up. You'd just have to skip the last page or so. It's mostly most of us participating -- myself included -- being seriously, seriously, seriously disappointed-to-disgusted by the show. I'm glad you're loving it. I don't see how, but I'm glad. A friend's mom said it's some of the best Star Trek she's ever seen, and I truly had no response to that, it so badly didn't compute. I just stood there staring and trying to think of what to say. I had wanted so very much to like it.
