Star Trek: Picard

I hope we finally get to see Capt Picard go into the batcave...

I'm excited for this series. And I don't expect it to be TNG, but I do expect it to feel like Star Trek, unlike the let down of Discovery.

That said, I was just watching the trailer yet again, and noted something that made me a little mad. Almost forshadowing of what we "may" expect to be yet another Not Star Trek series. I'm probably just blowing it out of proportion out of fear.

It's the blatant symbolism that gets to me in this scene.

Picard is speaking with the Admiral:

Picard: "Admiral, I am standing up for the Federation. For what it should still represent!"

Admiral : (Standing Up) "This is no longer your house, Jean-Luc."

scene change (Picard goes down an escalator as a Discovery Shuttle rises) "GO HOME"

I'm with you on this, cautiously optimistic, but given the direction Star Wars-Trek has taken under the Abrams/Kurtzman regime I have reservations.
I find Discovery to be such bad quality that I don't have the excited expectation for a new Star Trek series that I once would.

January isn't far off and the proof of whether the new regime can deliver a quality Star Trek series will be resting so heavily on the shoulders of the beloved Jean Luc Picard, it is a large load to bear.

Fingers crossed.

Heard Spiner is supposed to "pout" or "duck lips" to make his face 25% different. He has been seen making this odd face in a picture with co-stars out of costume.

I bought a copy of this book the other day.
I recorded a quick preview for your viewing pleasure to help you decide whether to buy it
.

All I can say is there are gonna be a lot of disappointed people from what I have been told.......

Bummed it's on a streaming service I have no desire to pay for. I saw Riker in one of the few trailers, and the show looks really good.

What actually counts as a "discovery shenanigan" these days? I feel like I've watched folks call it out for every violation possible. What did people ultimately decide was its greatest crime?
Or is it just potty mouth?
They dumbed down the writing and treat the audience like idiots.
Two things standout for me about JJ/Bad Robot Trek that really sum up the joke that Star Trek has become.
The most advanced computer/AI on the Enterprise in the 2009 film not recognising Chekov's Russian accent, when it can translate complex alien languages, DUMB beyond dumb. That was just played for "laughs".
The second equally dumb thing which made me totally tune out of any possibility that the current regime was in it for the science or took the Trek universe seriously was Pine-Kirk swing kicking a warp core, or whatever they made the component out to be, back into alignment.
Speak to the team at CERN ask them if that's how you align sophisticated technology.

JJ/Kurtzman literally swing kicked out ALL credibility of their ability to handle Star Trek.

Everything is played for its attempt to be "cool" or funny.

The swearing, not a problem in context. Miles said "bollocks" in the episode "Time's Orphan" because he was under extreme pressure to get his daughter back.

Disco apparently had swearing but I couldn't say if it was in context as I stopped watching after the two leads walked the delta shield logo into sand during a storm to visually signal an orbitting ship to pick them up, in the opening episode.
A 5 year old could tell you wind blows the surface sand in desert away in minutes and erases any footsteps.

Current Star Trek insults the intelligence of its audience and I have better things to do with my time... like making props!;)

I did’nt want to bring this up as it is political and that is verboten here but I will say this.

Patrick has lost his mind

We don’t need nor want you to lecture us on what you think is wrong with the current affairs on this Planet

This series from what I have been told is a train wreck and some on the “Mount” already have buyers remorse

One good thing is Bad Robots grip on the franchise may be over

“Anyone remember when we used to be explorers?”
