Hi all, First time poster here. Sean Sides pointed me in this direction, so here I am.

This is a highly modified and largly scratch built model of the USS Copernicus Copernicus :: U.S.S. Copernicus picture by Tracy_Mann - Photobucket as seen in the episode "Blood and Fire" on the Star Trek: Phase II web series. Star Trek: Phase II Home Page

There are still some finishing touches left to do, but it's mostly finished. The base was custom made for me by Absolute Models.

There are some incredible works here. Glad to share with you guys, and hope you like the model. This was just a practice build in preparation to doing the Copernicus in 1/350 scale if and when Round2 comes out with the TOS Enterprise in 1/350 scale.

Superb work.
Great design - thanks for sharing and documenting the build so well.

I didn't originally care for this design, from the point of view of it being a Miranda Class I think it completely misses the mark.

But this is a fantastic build-up, and seeing you work on all the details really makes one appreciate the ship in a new light.

Thanks for the nice comments folks...

One question - why does the ship's logo have a traffic light?

In the original series erra, each ship had its own logo. That is the Copernicus's command/uniform logo. It was designed by James Crawly, the producer of Phase II. However, in this show, they are in the transition of going from TOS erra to what would have been on the new TV show Star Trek: Phase II erra prior to ST:TMP. There would no longer be a specialty insignia within the command logo, i.e star for Command, basketball for Science/Medical, etc etc... Just the Command/Ship logo.

what was that brown substance that you used?

I believe it's call Renshape, or a similar product. A friend of mine sent it to me and says, "here, try this"! It's a plastic product that looks like wood with no grain, and sands almost as easy as balsa. It was a real time saver and a joy to work with in quickly forming the shape of the secondary hull. In 1/350, I plan to use a similar technique to make a master to vacuform the secondary hull sections in clear for lighting purposes.

Absolutely SUPERB Tracy!!! You knocked this out of the Galaxy!!

I really like your subtle shading, it looks fantastic. The engines are incredible too, and the overall look just seems to nail it.

That last picture on the base is VERY COOL!!

Congrats on finishing this, can't wait to see your next one!

Thnx Sean! It's been through an contest all ready and did very well. I need to tweek a few thinks on it still, but I don't plan on doing much more to it. This was just a test build to study the design so I can do it in 1/350 scale when the 1/350 TOS E comes out.
