Unlimited Run Star Trek Movie Communicator Lids and Midplates

Comm - did I see correctly on your website that you are going to offer electronics for the kit? The will be awesome! I was hoping for something like that. Myron's awesome kit needs that extra bling! I thank you both!

That is correct - electronics will be done very shortly.

A Note About The STV Lid:
It has come to my attention that a few of you are not aware of the actual history of the STIII and STV comms and have asked why the STV lid doesn't fit from left to right.
Backstory (short version):
RC molded an original STIII comm years ago and changed the lid to a single piece design to make it easier. (He also changed a lot of other stuff but I won't address that here.) In his design he simply removed the brass spacer that was present and continued bending the lids in the same spot as the originals. This leaves a gap on both sides where you can see a very small amount of the screw threads. He sold the copies of the STIII comm at conventions for years, all had a one piece lid with this same malady. This became standard over the years.

In STV they used an altered copy of a STIII convention comm with the one piece lid. Same gap is present but you may have never seen it due to the fact that there is only one pic of the STV on the internet. All of the other pictures depicting two comms from STV are reproductions made years after the movie was released.

All of the above history came from RC himself relayed to me in person. In closing I only say that the gap is correct and if I'd never started making the 3 piece lids back in 08, there'd be no complaints. Hope that helps clear that up.

This would be fantastic! I spoke to intrepid Trek circuit-maker gmprops about this, and he was interested but he's very busy with a contract right now and said he might not be able to get to it for quite a while.

May I ask what the aforementioned website is? :)

He has nothing to do with this run but I did offer it to him first.

Go to the first post for link.

Received my second lid the other day. Looked great. Unfortunately, the dog thought so too, so I'll be ordering yet another ST3 lid once they are back in stock

Any tips on positioning the reed switch and magnet? That tiny magnet is pretty strong, I had to adjust the placement of the reed switch about half a million times before I got it right.:p
