Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 plus Bio support/Transport case (2nd video added)

I was at "Starfleet Surplus" again this morning :) and came across a Bio-neural gel pack that may still have some life left in it.

If there is no virus, I may use it for my replicator......

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack (interpretation)

Ooo, that's lovely!

Your interpretation looks like the kind of bio-neural circuitry used on an advanced ship like the Enterprise E. More intelligent-looking than Voyager's, and I love that hue of blue.

Just make sure to keep it away from cheese, Mutara-class nebulae, and giant macro-viruses, and you'll have a reliable organic computer processor for years :lol

Wow. Looks cool. But, er, is that a spine in there?:eek

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 (interpretation)

I had an extra Platt storage case available, so I thought I would make a mobile life support/transport unit for the Bio-neural gel pack.

I will incorporate some battery backup and control circuitry to keep it healthy until installation:

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 (interpretation)

Since I'm going to be transporting the Gel Pack with the stored memory intact, I needed a Bio Support Control Unit (GP-BSCU)........

Will be adding some electronics and LED blinkies as well :)

Update:

Added a "Quick-Disconnect manifold" to the upper bracket, along with a blue LED backlight and digital indicator.

I like the look of that. Well done. more details on construction please.

Thanks Robot Monster :)

I will be adding connectors to the top of the Gel Pack and a voltage
signal to the digital meter. I mocked up the gel pack "back light" to
see how it would look....
The Gel Pack is held in the case with magnets for easy removal.
When the wiring is complete, the cooling fans will also be operational.

Damn that looks cool! Will the wires at the top light up or blink?

That's pretty nifty... but my first thought is to avoid taking it on an airplane! :)

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 plus Bio support/Transport case (interpretation

During the original airing of the prop, they didn't seem to show the connections at the top or the bottom, so I am using some of that "prop interpretation" with the upper brass hose connections on the mounting bracket, going to a quick disconnect manifold and 5 short tubing runs to the control boxes on either side......

I am doing a few additions here and there, when time and money allow...

Thanks for the compliments :)

Good evening,

I am currently completing some of the internal wiring and in the photo (the areas marked with the red squares), I will be adding an ElectroPlasma Power Drive Unit (left side) and on the right side will be the Input/Output Human Interface...... :)

The picture below shows the BNGP removed.

This looks awesome.
I really like the case you've built for it too.

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 plus Bio support/Transport case (interpretation

Very cool project. Looking forward to more updates!

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 plus Bio support/Transport case (interpretation

I"m completely impressed. Great work! Keep it coming.

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 plus Bio support/Transport case (interpretation

Thanks for the compliments and interest :)

Updates coming soon.
I am working on some of the lighting and "Input/Output Human Interface" today......

Re: Star Trek: Bio-neural Gel Pack V2 plus Bio support/Transport case (interpretation

It never fails.....I start out to do a basic project by creating a Bio-neural Gelpack (to maybe sell at auction) and then I decide to get case for it, add foam inserts and then maybe a battery operated backlight.

Of course, after I got started, there looked like some extra space that needed to be filled in the case and it ends up looking something like this:

img2873a.jpg

The push button switches operate the Main power, Fan control, Gelpack backlight and ElectroPlasma Power Drive Unit.

I will be cutting a view port opening in the lid of the case and add a few visual/metalized tape details to the outside. :)

That's it for now................
