Star Trek 2009 - Kelvin Salt Shaker

Hi all, I figured I'd show off my latest toy: the Kelvin Salt Shaker!

First of all, since there was a CND order for another RPF member, this item will not be offered and no PMs about buying it will be answered. It was made just for my own purposes - collecting! I modeled it in Maya and exported it to an online site that had a 3d printer make it for me at an affordable price. I opted for the full model without the break because I felt it looked better than a 'post-brawl' version. The salt shaker lid does come off, but unfortunately due to the particle nature of the printing, you can't eat out of it. Thanks for looking and comments welcome! :thumbsup

I was planning on modeling a set with salt and pepper... What do you guys think? I'm not sure about using the Enterprise for pepper, since it wasn't a famous ship yet at the time the shakers were in the movie.

Looks good! Well, at the time when we saw them in use, the Ent was still under construction, so I would think it was not available as a shaker...

Very cool. I'm happy to see that you were able to make one for yourself. Truly a shame about the c&d for the other member that was going to do a run. Sigh, I guess those of us not so mechanically inlcined will have to settle for living vicariously through you:lol

Thanks all!
Prop Medjai - I just measured the saucer as 2.75 inches exactly. Total length is 4.5 inches - big enough to hold and I think its about the same size as the original from screen stills.

I saw the actual piece at Bad Robot. Surprisingly, it was extremely detailed and had both nicelles. I wish I could have taken a pic of it for you but you're on the right track.

Also, good on you about heeding the CD. Paramount is very cognizant and trigger happy in regard to Trek XI. They were on here and other boards long before EFX and ourselves got licensing.

Got Maul - Thanks! If you're ever there again for Anovos, can you snap a pic for me? It'd be cool to see the original prop outside of the movie shot.

As for the Narada, not only not-to-scale, but where the heck would you put the pepper!?!? hahaha

Unless that sucker can be filled with and shake salt, I don't want it! :lol

That is beautiful!
Can we see the other side?

I keep hoping for a Kelvin toy or model or something that I can modify into one...
Bravo!!!

Wow thanks for all the compliments guys! I made this at Shapeways.com for anyone else interested in trying to make their own.
Sporak - here's the underside for you!

Looks great. You sure you aren't willing to take in a little poison to see it get used? Now you have me thinking... I have the R2-D2 pepper grinder, but I don't have a nerdy salt shaker to go with it. I'll have to give it some thought.

Shapeways just came out with ceramic material. Maybe you could use that material instead and make it functional.

You could always make the Romulan ship be the salt shaker holder (like it's crashed into it). That would be kind of funny.
