My point was that the Trek Movie phaser echoes a retro look and so does the Galaxy Quest phaser. But hey, maybe that's just me. i didn't imply they were look-alikes.:rolleyes
BTW, that Nebulizer is not a shot of the real prop. It's a buildup of the SidKit Nebulizer which isn't all that accurate (incorrect way the handle meets the body, no top light up blue fin, cast off a stunt, handle & trigger is just wrong, etc.).
This is the real "hero" Galaxy Quest screen-used Nebulizer prop that I just happen to own (see below).

You forget that there were at least two, if not three Nebulizers:
-Series
-Convention
and
Thermian.
Accurate also depends on which version you mean.
The thing I noticed first is the use of a joke from Stargate SG-1 where the team is replaced by a "younger, hipper, edgier" crew. It was a bad idea then...but at least it was funny.
Wasn't Spock much older than Kirk? How could they meet as young men?? Spock was serving on the E years before Kirk!
Odd.

According to StarTrek.com, Spock is three years older than Kirk and was assigned to the Enterprise 12 years before Kirk assumed command as Captain for the "five-year mission". That was, of course, the previously established history; with the altered timeline/universe established in the new film, it's a whole new ball game.Wasn't Spock much older than Kirk? Here's my quick fix of the Playmates Phaser:
- a light brush with some steel wool on the bottom half
- silver barrels, one airbrushed with clear red acrylic paint to simulate anodizing (yeah, I KNOW there is too much red)
- black weathering airbrushed over the entire phaser (the screen used looks quite grimy)
- bottom "dusted" with a clear coat to dull the chrome further
- whole phaser cleaned with an Ajax-drenched rag, leaving the grime/weathering in all the crevices

I'm really liking the design. Shame about the weight.
(Thanks to Wackychimp for hosting the pic.)
You should take commissions.
The only real problem i see with not doing a complete
repaint in on the other side. The recycle and
made in china/copyright stuff is still there.
Could you show us a shot of that side?
I was thinking of taking mine apart and painting, but couldn't a person just sand down the logo stuff and plug the holes and paint it assembled?
I'm almost done doing exactly that.
