Star Trek (2009 J.J. Abrams movie) Phaser Defined Thread!

Just a n00b, but you guys are complaining about replicas of the props before you even see the props themselves?

Did I get that right?

LOLZ.

Could someone post pix of the two versions of the toy E? That Wizard website took them down.

Quick comparison of the two toy shots. The two seem pretty similar structurally with the big difference being the front of the nacelles.

This is also the first clear shot of the hangar bay doors I believe we have seen.

You're not in the minority, I like the ship too. Lots of folks dig the ship, including Captain Kirk himself. But Shatner, like myself, is not a purist. :rolleyes

The hate being poured into this thread over TOYS is really just sad.

A friend of mine is in the movie in the brewery…err…engine room. He said it was very surreal
A. Being in a Star Trek Movie
B. Pretending that this Brewery was part of the Enterprise.
Again, youd think with a budget like this one they couldve come up with something a little better. Pepper Mills, Breweries. Bar code Scanners…the set designs sound more like TGIFridays then Trek. It will be interesting to see how much ‘flair’ the crew is required to wear.
Keep your eyes peeled on the bridge for a red stapler.

Yes, because found items never happen to be made into props, right? ;) And what brewery is this you speak of?

I hate the look of the bar code scanner too, but it's hardly a deal breaker for me. I'm still interested in seeing the movie.

Major new clues regarding J.J. Abrams’s new “Star Trek” movie emerged Wednesday with the publication of Star Trek: Countdown's first issue, an IDW funnybook (billed as an official prequel to the Abrams movie) which swells my withered Trekkie heart.

I'll have to pick up a copy.

To Quote the legend......
Milton Waddams:

"And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire... :lol:lol

The engine room is a location shoot at a beer brewery outside of LA...yes...vats and pipes....now ask me again why Im so unimpressed.
A buddy of mine is actually in that scene.

:sick

Dear God please let this be the biggest cover-up since NASA faked the moon landings. :cool

Here's a weird idea no one in Hollywood has thought of,..... How about they make a "good" Star Trek movie? :wacko

I think the minority is growing. I'll flat out say it. I like the Enterprise! There, I'm out! :lol

The one or two slightly out of focus screen grabs only gave us a glimpse. The detail in the toy is great!

I won't buy the toy though, in hopes of a true model, where I can paint and light it up myself.

OH, I know why you're unimpressed. :)

What is the brewery? That's what I'm asking you. I've been to a massive brewery in Tampa, near Busch Gardens, and that place was just cool looking inside. The kind of place you walk into and want to film a movie inside of.

I'd imagine they would have dressed the location, and if it's a new brewery with clean lines, and lots of digital equipment, it could look pretty cool.

I know, I know, you're going to argue the point and tell me how terrible it is they didn't build a set for the engine room with a glowing blue tube, right?

:)

i for one am a huge TOS fan but unlike most of you guys i love the new props!! the phaser is an excellent modern variation and the comm looks awesome

but my biggest love is the new ship design....i love it!!!! :love

its a good way to introduce the old trek we all know and love dearly to a younger , new generation.........come on guys don't boycott the movie just because the props don't look like their from the 1960's..... i know thats what we do analyze this stuff but come on give it a chance

Well, there it is.
We now know what the phaser looks like.
I like the new costumes.
I like the new Enterprise.
I like the new cast.

Why does the phaser have to suck SO HARD?! :cry

Yeah, because the original engineering set had one...er, wait. It didn't. It was just a simple bi-level set with blinky lights. I think filming in a brewery would be a step up...

Maybe Old spock will comment the phaser : "This design is illogical"
