Star Spangled Man with no Plan: My Captain America suit

Hi guys! Still fairly new to RPF, but thought I'd show what I've been up to the past 8 months or so. I used to do Jedi costuming, but when I got hired by a local comic shop, I decided to do a super hero costume. Being the token American working in a UK shop that primarily sells imported American comics, the character dilemma solved itself fairly quickly.

At the time, I was only hired for part time work, and hence I was on a budget. I had seen the UD replica suit, but it was far too pricy. This was my alternative.

So yeah, I was pretty happy with this all in all. I wasn't perfect, but it was good enough for costuming at store sponsored events. What I wasn't happy with (no pic, worry) was the first helmet I bought. £100 and it was solid resin that turned out to be much smaller than advertised and way too heavy. I was absolutely devastated. So, yes, I went for this option. It's a latex rubber comic style mask.

Then came the new helmet, a WW2 style helmet formerly used by a Police Department color guard. The shield was £50, made from a trash can lid. Found it at a convention, couldn't say no.

Next I got a new shield. Made using the saucer sled. Fell in love with the details on the battle damaged paint job, bought it from etsy.
