Ever since the first trailer, I knew I'd be wanting to build a Star Lord costume when I watched the film, and with funds the way they are, that's probably why I only got round to watching it recently. So here we are, and like I expected, a Star Lord costume is on the cards.
I'm making the helmet out of greyboard and bondo, using JDF's templates for simplicity's sake. I'm making fast progress compared to a similar Boba Fett helmet build I did, but I've still got a long way to go with the bondo stage.

The shirt was bought for cheap. I turned it fro regular to slim fit and dyed it a more grey-blue. I know it's short sleeve, but with the jacket on no one will know. My hair is blond due to a Constantine costume a while back, which is perfect for Star Lord.

For the jacket, I went with the Pakistan option which seems to be branded as FZ Merchandise, which seems to be the popular choice. Unfortunately, the jacket I got was waaay out of proportion for me. Apparently you need to be beefy to fill them out. I reckon the XS I purchased is a 38-40" chest, despite being marketed for a 34-36. The length was perfect but way too wide. I let my housemate try it on, who is a medium, and it was still big on him. I cheaped out and bought synthetic leather. That was another mistake, as the material is far too thick to wear; the sleeves crumple and billow oddly and movement is restricted, Sitting down in it is problematic, since the entire front of the jacket just pushes up into your throat and chokes you. And the third issue is that it came damaged. They asked me to take photos, so I guess I'll share them here too. One of the pockets has a tear at the seam like someone had already worn it, and the strapping on one of the arms is jutting out. Maybe I got a bad egg, but I'd be careful buying from them. Beautiful stitching, and a fairly accurate jacket, but impractical for me.

I'm waiting on a reply to see what they have to say, but in the mean time, I've ordered a cheap(er) leather jacket off eBay. Not accurate, but it should fit a lot better if it arrives in time with the international shipping.
I really want the TPS-L2, but I know that's never going to happen. So I'm converting another cassette player. I'm trying to be as accurate as possible. The cassette player I used is a Murphy Stereo Cassette Player, model number M S - 0 0 5, but good luck finding anything. That provides no results on google. The size is pretty close, just a little slimmer which I'm padding out with reinforced greyboard. I also sanded off the raised edge around the tape window, which itself was reshaped to be more accurate. Still a ways to go though; I need to figure out a way to flip the headphone socket to the top. I'm thinking a extension cable running though the inside.
