Star-lord helmet LED kit - HELP

Hey guys, I'm new here. I ordered a Star-lord helmet replica cast from Davy and I wanted to figure out what LEDs to use. I'm new to the electronics game so does anyone have any advice as to where I can get some red LEDs and a battery small enough for the inside of the helmet? Thanks!

I would not cut off the extra LEDs. It doesn't look like they are wired correctly for that. Also, the description doesn't say anything about it either. As far as using a smaller battery pack, do you know how to solder or have access to a soldering iron?

This is a slightly smaller option. It uses one less battery and uses AAA instead of AA and does not have more LEDs than you need.

Red LEDs:

Battery Holder:

Wire Glue:

(I'm not sure how well this stuff works, but if you don't have any electrical experience and are not comfortable with a soldering iron, it may be better than nothing! I couldn't find one that was sold on amazon.com)

Electrical Tape:

The red wire from the battery holder is the + on the battery and the black wire is the -. Attach the LED long wire to the resistor and attach the LED short wire to the black.

Since you'll need 2 LEDs, you can put the 2nd LED right after the first one. Just connect the short wire from the first LED to the long wire of the second LED. Then you can take the short wire from the second LED and connect it to the black wire from the battery holder. If you need to space out the LEDs a little, you can put some wire between the LEDs, but still connect them in the same order.

Once you have all the connections made, wrap electrical tape around all your connections and any exposed wire. You don't want them shorting out on each other or shorting out on you!

Awesome stuff guys, thanks. I don't have a soldering iron but I can always get one. I always look for the simple way, just purchasing what I need, but it always seems I get all technical and learn some new DIY thing in the process. :)

this is a good subject....ordered helmet from the rockateer...and will be adding led eyes to kit....lets see how this goes....as far as my own idea....ill be looking at wiring the eyes (red leds),rockets controls (flashing blue led), rockets boosters (red cree led)...all into one unit with a baatery pack in the jacket.....
