*** UPDATE 3-3-15***

I've documented my finishing process starting on page 7. This shows me going through the steps finishing a couple finish orders.

I've had a couple inquiries coming in, and although I haven't had time to even think about a new run, if there were interest I'd be open to it. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

You can follow my personal build in my thread here. I was seeing things a bit differently than the available models and casts, so I made a helmet that was as close to screen accurate as I saw it, using the available reference pics.

INFO

Helmets will be slush cast in resin, and will come as raw casts, needing slight bubble filling and trimming. My head is exactly 24” and it is quite snug on me. It fit a friend with a smaller head well with a little padding installed. Helmet includes clear lenses, cheek tube greeblies and jaw tubes.

MAP PROJECTOR

I will also be doing a run on my map projector if there is enough interest. Price is $65 for a raw cast plus $18 shipping (not applicable if shipping with a helmet).

PM if interested and we'll get this started!

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector

I sent you a PM, but count me in for a helmet. 3D printing one isn't working out for me. I also have a friend that wants one, but doesn't have any money until payday next week. If the down payment can wait until then, he's also in for one.

You can count me in for the helmet! I was following you thread and it's looks like you really made that helmet shine, congrats.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector

When you say "comes with clear lenses" I'm assuming you mean the ones used in the photos that are tinted red? Might pull the trigger on one of these as I'd like a nice SL helmet but can't afford $$$$ for one.

Thanks!

Thanks for the interest and kind words everyone! I'm sending PM's with payment info etc. right now.

The lenses will be just clear acrylic. For my lenses so far I simply tinted them with a red permanent marker. I might try to dye them or tint them if I have time before Halloween but this works for the meantime and looks fine.

Risu, I'll PM you and see if we can work something out for your friend.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector INT LIST STARTED

I'm also curious about the map projector, but can't shell out for it at the moment.

As for the lenses, I'm fine with clear, as the lenses on the real deal are a clear acrylic lens and an etched blue acrylic lens with a series of red LEDs between them.

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector INT LIST STARTED

You've got me down on the interest list which is great, but I didn't get your PM. If there's anything I need to hear or provide at this stage, let me know!

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector INT LIST STARTED

PMs sent.

As for the lenses, yeah that's why I figured it was best to leave them clear. Some may want them red, and some may want them more prop accurate.

Oh, and the front of the projector is the same ribbed texture as the rear (minus the extra detailing). There isn't a good shot of the front in the movie, but it appears the wings are black, like the rear, but the center is the projection area. I figured I would leave this for the individual to cut to taste. The piece will be rotocast so it's hollow, to allow for electronics.

Blue acrylic?! That's so interesting. Is the etching just the squares that some people believed was mesh behind the lenses? Or is there a pattern on one eye? Do you have any reference images that show the blue?

Re: Star Lord Helmet and Map Projector INT LIST STARTED

I did take a couple pictures of the helmet, I can post them here if it's ok with MDuckett or just over in my thread when I get home. The squares are laser engraved into the blue acrylic.
