Star Destroyer Bridge Section ( Korbanth ) Build

I forgot to say many thanks to Cosmos Models/JPG prod. for making this kit! 2 years if not more in the making and well worth the wait!!! comes with a hefty price tag, they make different scales to fit any budget. 1/350 - 1/500 and smaller. A pretty penny well spent! just outstanding! I will give a full review and build log of this after my Bridge is done.

Cheers...

I bought this kit a few years ago and it was an absolute nightmare, resin as thin as 3mm in some load bearing parts and as thick as 12mm in others. Warped panels and more airbubbles and i have care to mention. After close to 2 years and almost 4 times its purchase price i finally got a semi decent looking model out of it.

Quick question? what did you use for the little antenna spikes on the upper/outer rim of the deflector shield spheres? when he made my kit he said the guy he outsourced it from was not doing them anymore and is no longer included in the kit. and that I had to fend for myself on those detail parts.
sad but true. as I look closer to your build, I see some of the same pits and bubbles I endured, LOL
all said and (when) done, I believe my build of this kit will far exceed the purchase price, LED's, paint, FO more paint, LOTS of glue, power source, still more paint. etc. but it's been fun and mostly challenging! I love to challenge my self, otherwise it's no fun.

Aloha

Ahh, so he has changed his lies now has he. He told me that the guy who mastered it and used to cast it for him had been tragically killed in a car accident so he bought the moulds and sold the kit missing (30+) parts. When i posted photos of the build on FB i was contacted by the guy who did the master, he told me a very different story...

I got onto Etsy and found 1mm (0.4") diametre threadless eye bolts and 1mm diametre threaded hex key bolts. The eye bolts were set into holes i drilled in the dome and the bolts were screwed through them to form the small posts.

If you're up to a bit of an expence, there are 3D printed versions of the entire shield generators available on shapeways.

Also, the 'ladder' style trusses under the domes are available on there as i had a mate model them for me (yet more parts that mine was missing).

thanks for the info on the the deflector shield antennas, not to sure how I am going to go about it? but your solution sounds great!

WoW, what a story! I would have enjoyed that better than the one I got. not sure if he fibbed or not but I obviously didn't get the whole story but a very entertaining one to say the least. to some extent, not the tragic car crash part.

the 3D printed domes from 308bits are the one I asked if he could do for me a few months back, tony, nice guy doe some very cool stuff, very helpful as well. but when he got the scale I needed it ended up being WAY TOO expensive, just for one let alone a pair. and I forgot who I bought my 3D printed inner lower dome antenna from but I think you got the same I bought. very nice! the ones that came with my kit were a bit...um.. useless to me, they would work but not without major cleaning up and fragile. too much work for clean-up so I bought new ones.

thanks again

Paul
