Oh great guru's of the modeling forum, I seek thy wisdom.

Could you share your opinion of accuracy on the Icons SS TIE STD? Is it worth the big $$$? or is there a better option (A kit from someone here for instance?, if so, who do I contact?)

What I'm looking at doing is the trench scene from ANH :love

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Cheers,

Kraig

I'd like to second that request......any SS TIE kits out there???

Dave :)

I got a buddy whos done some of Steves kits, there amazingly good from what i see, hero or std wings both rock and the price is good on the std wing variant too. You get a quality casting too, thats a massive plus on one of Steves kits.
OK hard plug over lol.

LOL oh right. Thanks. It was an enjoyable build but this model is HUGE... I cant comment on the Icons Tie , but this kit is great.

The main problem I recall being reported about the ICONS is that due to multiple generations and multiple coats of paint, that the greeblie details are rather soft. Steve's would thus be better in that regard at the very least.

I had a Icons which I sold to get one of Steve's kit, the Icons overall details are very soft and botchy in places, Steve's Tie are super clean and super sharp.

Hi,

I rarely post in this forum as I feel totally intimidated by the knowledge and skill of the guys here :)

I buy the odd SS kit here and there but since my wife had twins I have no time to work on them as you can imagine.

I bought a Steve Neison TIE kit in the junkyard second hand and it looks amazing it is also huge. I also have a Salzo X wing to try the same thing as what Kraig is looking for the trench scene.

The one I bought does not have hero wings and I noticed the wings are quite noticably warped. Before I start any kind of work on the kit does anybody here have a solution to this warping? Is there any way to straighten them up a bit?

Even with the warping the kit is something special. I am in no way complaining just looking for a wee solution. If I can't get them straighter I might bite the bullet and try to make hero wings.

In answer to the first post if you get a SS TIE with hero wings from SN then you can't go wrong.

Cheers Chris.

Thanks so much for everyone's responses :)

It looks like the Steve Neison TIE kit is the way to go, is he a member here? if not, can anyone point me in the right direction please :) I did a Google search and couldn't find anything, does he have a website?

Gunpowder, that is a work of art Mate... I'd be happy if mine turn out looking 1/4 as good as that.

Thanks again folks, much appreciated...

Cheers,

Kraig

Hairdryer or hot water on a straight surface is the way to go .

Hi Kraig,

Will your death star trench scene involve a MR X-Wing or a SS Salzo X-wing?

Just curious :love

Cheers Chris.

I would love to have one of those. It would like nice in front of my 5 foot falcon. (scene from A New Hope)

Hey Chris :)

I may do an X-Wing in the future, but, at the moment, I'm just wanting to do the 3 TIE's. If I can pull off those, I kind of get the feeling, that I'll want to add an X-Wing too, it's like a disease :lol

Cheers,

Kraig
