re: Bond 24

Do not forget that Skyfall was full of old school Bond movie references. They honored the old as they told the story of the new. A male M, Q, Money Penny, The Aston Martin, one liners, old movie titles and so on. Thus the Office seems to be a nod to those films as well.

re: Bond 24

When it comes to John Logan, my expectations are very low. Especially if he wants to repeat what he thought made the last Bond a success i.e. Bond being terrible at his job.

I assume this means you hated Skyfall...in which case you are in the extreme minority.

re: Bond 24

My only real fear is that the humor starts to fall back into "Austin Powers" mockery material.

One of the more humorus moments for me is Bond shooting that WTF look at the komodo dragon in Skyfall.
Subtle but a great reaction at the absurdity of the situation, more relatable through Craig's Bond rather
than us laughing at some silly Bond antics that other films have suffered.

re: Bond 24

You know who could portray Blofeld? Simon Cowell!

The Sun claims that Bond 24 will be titled "Devil May Care". They're not the most reliable but who knows. Devil May Care was a Bond novel so we will see.

Better than "Devil May Cry" :p

John Logan Gives Bond 24 Script Update | Movie News | Empire

Could we see the return of a certain villainous organisation, be it Quantum or the return of S.P.E.C.T.R.E. now that MGM has won back the rights to the Connery-era antagonist?
"There might be! Honestly, not being evasive, but the great thing about Bond is that I have fifty years of
movies
- 23 movies and all the Ian Fleming novels and short stories, all of which are fodder. And when I'm working on the new Bond I'm constantly going back to Fleming and the other movies - what are the bits and pieces, what are the resonances?
One of the things we learned in Skyfall is that the audience really enjoyed those, they enjoyed when they saw the Aston Martin, they enjoyed when we had references to things they grew up with, either from Ian Fleming or from the other movies, and that's always been a part of my thinking about Bond."
Pushed further to comment on whether we'll see either Quantum or Blofeld, Logan only said "No comment". Asked if any other Double-0 agents will appear, he pauses before saying "Ah... no comment".

re: Bond 24

I think you'll see more oo agents if they do bring back villainous organizations. They can't just have James doing all the hunting and protecting the world. Since quantum has agents and men all over the place doing their things. MI6 must have more people on the job as well. You kinda see it in Skyfall about how they released the data base on field agents uncover.

I love the old tie ins of the old movies, but don't get too cheesy. I think the new way of doing bond is great. Don't get me wrong, I love all the old movies and cheesy things that go with them.

re: Bond 24

I really hope those quotes don't suggest an overreliance on callbacks and such. Die Another Day was like that, and it was just awful. The film should stand on its own without requiring or trying to include callbacks.

If the story naturally goes there, fine. But don't shoehorn stuff in just because "Our internal metrics show that audiences enjoy callbacks. MOAR CALLBAX!!!11!!!!"

Agreed! :thumbsup

re: Bond 24

I fell asleep watching TMWTGG last night, watching the rest today. My daughter got 20 min in and lost interest :lol (except for seeing a young Dooku ;) ) just before she walked out she asked "when's the Daniel Craig one coming out?" She'll be glad to know it's in the works. :lol

re: Bond 24

That one is...tough. The one after it is a good bit better. But then you get Moonraker. But THEN you get For Your Eyes Only, which is, in my opinion, the best of the Moore films.

Moore's era was REALLY uneven, similar to Brosnan's, actually.

Verbatim my thoughts as well! Although I do like some parts of TMWTGG. Lee is great even in a bad film. :lol
