I was fascinated by this relic since I saw it for the first time, many years ago. So I think to myself someday I will make one.
Many years passed from then, my skills into blacksmithing improved, so the time for this chalenge has come.
As a first trial, it was a struggle but the results satisfied me completly.
All items are made by me. :D The 18 pages broschure (I'm proud of it) describe the history of the Spear and have leather covers.
I took some photos so I will let you say your opinion.

There was a Wolfenstein game by that name that had the spear in it but of course, biblical history came first. You may also recognize it from the movie Constantine, starring Keanu "Woah!" Reeves.

That's a great looking spear man. Awesome work.

Ohhhhh... that makes sense. Now it's coming back to me. It had an appearance in the graphic novel, "LIGHT BRIGADE" which was one of the most brilliantly original stories I've read:

Neat to see more archaeological artifacts, and nice job on it. Yeah, the spear gets around -- I seem to remember there's about three may-be-the-spear in the world today. So does yours include any bits of saints or fragments of the True Cross (or good looking replicas thereof?)

Have you used the original measurements, too? It may be the pics, but it looks short. Besides that, THIS is awesome! And I like the thin golden sleeve, too. Great work man. I think you have to do a few for us ;-)
As I know how much work the wiring, etc. is...what about selling these as a kit? So you don't have to destroy your fingers with this process :)
I would take one without the box, but I totally like the brochure.

Sound very interesting as a kit.:) The measurements are accurate as possible. Here is a few informations about the Spear and all the stuff:
Forged from steel and mounted with steel wire and covered with a sheet of brass with inscription of both sides.
Measure 45 cm long, 95 mm wide and weight 1.2 kg. The box with all items inside weights 2.4 kg.
The broschure, inventory tag and the box are also made by me from scratch, especially for this item.
The broschure is in english, have 18 pages describing the relic's history and have leather covers.
The box are made from oak and plywood and I made it to look like a "government property" style. Personally I like it very much.
I got to go back to work now, people. Thank you.

It was a great pleasure to work on this spear.
It's a great one thanks to Andy. He gave me very good reference materials.

First of all, Sorin is one of the nicest guys I've ever dealt with. He keeped up his updates and was involving me in every step of the progress. Thanks a lot for this.

You should. It arrived my door today. THIS is so brillant! Everything is so cool. and this IS the best I've seen. I love the box (he did special symbols on my personal reference on it), the small leather book, the wiring on the spear, the spear itself, the gold sheeth. Everything is so well done.. Truly awesome! I see all the work and time which went into this piece. And I'm very thankful to Sorin. I would love to do another project with him, someday.

The symbol on the box is from the "Ghost Division". The Tank-battalion where I have served had the same symbol on our Leopard A5. And the inventary number is taken from my dog tag ;)

Read that graphic novel in Iraq. Great story. Better use of the Spear of Destiny than in Constantine.

It also makes an appearance in 'Hellboy', near the beginning of the film. It's in a glass case at the B.P.R.D., Prof Broom calls it the "Spear of Longinus":

I will reiterate everything Andy said. You will be hard-pressed to find a nicer, more accommodating, honest, stand-up guy to work with. He turns out his EXEMPLARY work quickly, & is generous with his updates. In a very short period of time, I felt like I had known him for years, & dealing with him was a distinct pleasure.

I'm not gonna lie about it, I was ASTOUNDED how fast this parcel arrived from the other side of the frakking planet. I was expecting it to take AT LEAST 4 - 5 days longer than it did. The box was well-packed, & it arrived snug as a bug in a rug, even after being subjected to the heavy hands of the U.S. Customs agency.

This IS the finest replica of this relic I've ever seen. It is heavy & sturdy, & it looks ANCIENT & beautiful all at the same time. Sorin will customize the markings on the wooden crate to the buyer's specifications. I asked him to put the logo for the 'Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense' (Hellboy) on mine, & I chose "1934" for the Inventory #, because John 19:34 is the book/chapter/verse in the Bible that references the spear.

I hope my photos do this piece justice, because I could NOT be happier. Sorin, thank you, brother. You have provided me with one of the holy grails of my prop wish-list.

To answear the question of Hiro Pro; would be very difficult to make this as a kit. One of the reasons; the brass sheet have to be shaped, drilled and trimmed to fit the spear perfectly.
This way, the percentage of the manufacture process would be very high.
Someone could be unskilled and ruin the spear from the start. Wrapping process it's very tricky, also.
