So, has anyone attempted this?

I sat down for a viewing of Spaceballs at Dragon Con this weekend and was wondering if there were any kits out there...the SS model has to be huge.

What about Lone Star's Winnebago?

SB1 studio scale IS huge, I've seen it
LS Ranger 5 could be possible, it's on my wish list...

If you've seen the movie - where the ship reveal is a running gag - it's VERY big. I would guess it had to be to hold up the detail at shooting distance. Built by ILM too, I think.

Heres a link where they say its the real model. If it is or not, it is nice looking. One of the pics has a ruler, not sure if those are inches or centimeters. Looks like it comes in at around 39 or 40.

From the above link, two models were used-
"Missing no detail less the "We brake for nobody" sign, the featured 40" x 8" x 4" Spaceball One prop was used in tandem with a ginormous 17' version to depict the impossibly large ship, which allegedly houses a shopping mall, a zoo, and a three-ring circus, and takes about 1:43 to cross the screen in the above video. The smaller model appears in Spaceballs wide shots, where it appears way over yonder, or is shown blasting away from the camera."

The larger model is now in France. The front section was lost long ago, so it currently has a simple replica.

Good Lord...yeah, that definitely wont fit in my model room!

So yeah, a studio scale is probably out of the question for just about everyone.

It might make a cool forced-perspective diorama.

You would have to force that perspective pretty strongly though.
