9/29/06 Update

Hey guys -- restaraunt needs a final count by Monday at 5:00. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll set it at 25...

*************************************************************************

9/26/06 Update

I'm going to open up for pre-payment of the $25.

THIS IS NOT REQUIRED, but I really do appreciate pre-payment. My credit card has been billed for the first $200 already, so it will help me, and it wil also alleviate "administrative issues" at the door.

I will update the main list in the first post accordingly, and/or reply with a PM so either can serve as a form of a receipt.

I DO NOT have Paypal (sorry guys :unsure) so an MO or personal check is fine. Mail should only take a day or two, so a "cut-off" to mail would be the first few days of Otober (say by 10/4/06 just to be sure).

Because I'm shy ;) please PM me or email me for my address if you do choose to pre-pay. If not, we'll make arrangements at the door, but keep n mind you would be paying me (since I'll be settling the final bill myself with the restaurant), so cash or check, not a credit card.

9/21/06 Update

Guys I need to decide on the lunch buffet. I'd really like to do the BBQ, so Date and Time: Saturday, October 7th, 12:30 - 5:30
Cost: About $20 per person
Requirements: I need FIRM commitments from at least 20 people by NOON PST today (so far about 15 -- minus partners, dates, spouses -- have chimed in)

Additional details:
--I have a courtesy hold on a perfect banquet/meeting room that lasts until 5:00 tomorrow.
--The room rental is $75, plus each guest is "required" to order from the various buffet items, ranging from $10 to $30.
--The $10 to $30 for the buffet is a fixed, per person cost; essentially, we select a single menu offering of which bears a per-person cost. In other words, if we choose a menu that has a $20 per-person cost, and we have 20 folks, the total bill will be $400 for the buffet. Its a singular buffet as opposed to guests ordering individually.
--Everything must be placed on one bill, which I will be managing, and this includes a pre-paid deposit of abut $200, so it seems like I may be extending myself; thus I need faith and confidence in those who state they will be there. I would accept pre-paid assistance towards the down-payment once we have secured and green-lit everything, but won't directly ask or require it.
--I selected 10/7/06 to give us time to lan and generate interes, but to distance it somewhat from Halloween; consider it set in concrete but the concrete hasn't cured.
--We'll have tables for props
--its a no-go (at least at D&B) if we cannot commit at least 20 folks, but we're getting close.
--We can extend beyond 20, but must have the final head count by 10/2/06
--Unlimited SOFT drings for $2
--Will most-likely arrange a cash bar (you pay for your own booze as you go)

Cant' think of anything else right now, but please fire away with any questions.

Ladies and gents...

I feel it is time to ressurect an old "semi-tradition"...

Going back a few years we had at least two highly successful Prop Parties at the Irvine, CA Dave & Busters restaurant. They were orchestrated by a member who is not very active anymore, and I feel I am crazy enough to take on the task of making this happen once again.

What I propose:
--A Saturday event (most of us work on Fridays and Mondays, making Firiday and Sunday undesirable)
--Held at the D&B in Irvine (I'm pretty firm on this as I have a high comfort level with this company and location, but would consider the Orange location as a secondary option)
--Some time before the end of the year (keep in mind fourth quarter brings various holidays)

My willingness includes:
--Serving as point person for commuincations with the restaurant
--Managing and steering ideas, logistical details, and concepts presented in this thread
--Tactical administration of the event
--Right to make "executive decisions" if necessary or as seen fit

It does not include:
--Funding the event myself
--Accepting any liability for any others mishaps, misbehaviors, or losses

What I need from you at this point:
--Are you interested?
--How much is your dollar maximum should we have food/drink service?
--Would you be willing to pay up front if necessary?
--What are your preferred dates for the event (limit to 3 if you can; see below)?

I am interested, September or October would be great.

Cool -- Sept or Oct are my ideal targets... We'll see how things pan out...

I would be interested in attending. I don't have much in the way of props yet, but I would like to put a face to some of the online names. I think I have all but 1 weekend in October free (10-7-06).

I'm down. The first one at D&B was a blast. Who was responsible for organizing that? Sorry for forgetting.

I beleive it was Army Scout. At least the one I went to at D&B was. It was an awesome time. Got to hang out with Rob, Tim Arp, and lots of other fine folks.

I'D LIKE TO GO, I missed the last two, anytime would be cool..
would live to see props other than Star Wars ones :)
