Sommers Fabric for BSG Flightsuits

Quoted from Geoff at TCF:
So I'm having enough trouble finding fabric that I'd be up for putting together another Sommers run (Or convincing someone else to do it). Question is, do we have enough interest at this point, or is it still kinda tepid? I don't have the kind of credit this will take, so unless someone wants to take over, it'd likely be a substantial deposit situation. I'm guessing the price will be similar to last time - neighborhood of $60 per yard.

If you'd be interested, E.MAIL ME AT geoff@midwick.com with your real name, contact e.mail, where you saw the posting and how many yards you'd like (3.5 will give you a little bit of wiggle room for screw ups, regardless of size) You can sound off here if you like as well, but I will be posting this over at ASAP and would encourage people to spread it to the RPF, CDF, etc. so I will be tallying yardage based on e.mails only...

I'll put in for 10 to start off with. If we can get interest for around 100 yards, I'll contact Sommers and start figuring out the specifics.

any idea how much shipping 4 yards to Germany would come? :unsure

Contact Geoff in the E mail address, hopefully he will be able to give you a quote, and come on people, even if you dont use it you can save it to have a suit made later!

If you guys are talking about that metallic green material,

They have a roll of it at Michael Levine's in dowtown Los Angeles.

I know that roll. Its not Sommers. We initially tried that fabric years ago and the result was a very sticky, no body, poor rendition.

If it really is Sommers material i would be in for 3.5 to 4 yards not sure what is needed for a 6'1 205lbs male flight suit.

3.5 will be fine for you. I am 6'4" and 275 and my suit used about 3.75 yards and that was after redoing a few parts other wise 3.5 would have done it.

FYI, we're closing in on 125 - I've spoken to the folks at Sommers - they will let us get away with 180 again, so we're getting close - Once we hit 180, I will start asking for a 50% deposit. Once they are in, we place the order and wait 6-8weeks. The remaining 50% will be due before shipping from Sommers. I am not sure exactly how the payment structure will work yet, as there will be fees and shipping to contend with. The above is approximate so you guys have something to budget from - in reality, you may have a deposit, a "final" payment, and a small additional payment to square everything up, but this has all been considered in the $60/yard estimate, so it isn't "additional" in that sense (Except for international shipping).

For those asking for 4 or 5 yards - consider getting 7 so your scrap will be usable (oh, and so we get closer, but really I'm just looking out for you ;).)

The last time I talked to Geoff it was around 160. I'll get him to give me an accurate count so I can update the list.

We're close enough that I am going to push forward. I've contacted Sommers to get the specifics on payment. I'll be sending out an e.mail in a couple days with detailed information. I'll be looking for a deposit, so please have some money standing by - I want to get the order placed as soon as possible, and need people to be Johnny on the spot with the money.

Regards,
Geoff
